Back from Dr yeap’s talk. Didn’t expect him to be so young lol
-
ya lor, surprisingly, he is young and … boyish looking !
this morning turnout, there were 200 parents, twice as much as the initial 100 targeted. So glad that everyone can go, no parent got turned away in disappointment. Our school hall very big! Can even accommodate beyond 200 parents. Just now after all 200 parents sat down in rows, can see that there is still so much space remaining in the big hall.
saw many fathers there too! So wonderful ! These fathers so caring over the daughters’ education too.
must say a GREAT, BIG THANK YOU to our alumni taskforce team. They done a wonderful job! They sacrificed much of their personal time, to help organize this worthwhile, meaningful, great Maths event.
wish to thank sincerely Jan (that slim, petite pretty lady who went up stage to introduce Dr. Yeap), Moggie, Vernonica, plus all those who are involved in the alumni taskforce team (sorry, my apology. I don’t know your actual names) - for making this workshop a great, excellent take off! Kudos to all of you in the team, for your selflessness and your precious, valuable time contributed in this !
btw, Dr. Yeap said we can download his model answers for the modelling questions from his blogspot… esp. the last one on that equilateral triangle. Anyone manage to find his answers ?

Yes, can see Dr. Yeap answers for modeling stuff at his seminar today for Parents at RGPS, using the Bar Model method.
for problem 6 on apples, pears, oranges, he show two methods of solving - both bar method, plus conventional algebra method.
for the last problem on equilateral triangle, he show solution using x, y method, not bar method.

you may download his presentation from the web into powerpoint slides (ppt), print out directly from ppt or convert into word doc first, then print out in color, using either A4 or A5 size paper.

at Dr Yeap turnout yesterday, if flip through attendance list, out of 200 parents (overwhelming response, beyond 100 target) surprising ! … so many (majority) are from the lower primary P1s, P2s, P3s, plus some P4s …. more than the expected P5s & P6s, who are preparing for PSLE.
kekekeke … maybe P1s to P3s all geared up excited, preparing to take GEP test ?
btw, last year 2010 … any idea how many percent of our own rgps students got into GEP ? met one P4 parent during tea break time. She said very few P3s from our school got in last year. She said in fact, majority come from external schools outside. hah … is it true ? -
I had wanted to go to his talks but Dr Yeap’s classes are always overbooked and very pricey. I hope to go to one soon

I wish he had gone thru more model questions at a faster pace with us during the 3hrs and cut short the introduction on why children have to learn model method nowadays. We all know this is a fact and no one can change it so that is why we are there. -

Hi phtthp, I went to his website and tried to download. But maybe I am not IT savvy enough. Still can't do it.....
If you have the sofycopy ready, can I trouble you maybe to pm me a copy?
Many thanks
