I suppose if you are using your new address (TOP property) to register your child in the school, it might be a good idea to change your IC address now.

I am assuming moving in Sept is all because of leadtime for renovation. It’s a good idea to change your address on your IC. To do so, you need to prove Power supply/ Credit card bills. It’s good to start diverting the letters as it usually takes a while to ensure that all your letters are 99%diverted to your new address. So July is not too early if you are gg to shift in Sept.

but we need to do all that in such a short time. We received our keys only last week, and Phase 2C is next wednesday.

Would it be easier just to pretend that our condo is yet to be constructed, and show the school the purchase and sale agreement?

Even if you show the school the purchase and sale agreement, you need to prove that the development will TOP by 31 Dec 2011. Usually, the TOP date shown in purchase and sale agreement is conservative.

Sorry, I don't understand what is the big fuss? :?

If you have already received the TOP letter, and you are planning to move in September, then you are way earlier than the move-in date of 31/12/2011 required by MOE.

So my guess is you just need to show the purchase and sale agreement to prove that you do own an unit in the condo, and the TOP letter to show that you are able to move in well before the 2 years deadline is up. 😎

Anyone know of any missionary girls' school (close to public transport, preferably an mrt station) that is reasonably good academically and is known to have teachers who are caring?

              Thanks for info!

Actually this is very confusing!! πŸ™‚ Oh dear, please bear with me...

My in-laws are shifting out, and we bought another place (TOP in 2012) for ourselves. Which address should we use now?? The current one (that I am staying in), or the one to be TOP-ed, which I may sell in future? Can't be use all of them right?
if you are going to sell it you can't use it as an address for P1 registration.

Not a good idea to change your address to the new one if you havent moved into it yet. Your IC address is your RESIDENTIAL address, where it is owned by you or not.

I checked with MOE and was advised that you need to show an original sales and purchase agreement or Exercised Option to Purchase. At the school during registration, one will also need to sign a Letter of Undertaking stating that you will move into the property by Jan 2, 2010 (for resale properties. Yet to TOP properties, it will be the Dec 2011 deadline).

                    Dear all,

MOE takes serious action to those who use false address. Do take own children in consideration as children may be out of school should they make random checks. :stupid:

This is to protect those who are really living in that area of <1km. Not many have financial ability to rent units just to use address for P1 registration. It will take away a place for children who geniunely live near school. 😒

                    Thanks!

The irony is that the spirit of this policy is so to enable students staying near the school to have priority entry. Instead, what it has engendered is a secondary property market which drives parents to make major shifts in lifestyle and finances to gain an advantage, or 'game' the system with various combinations of 'grandparents address', 'rentals', 'TOPs' etc.

The message this sends to the children is that even the merest sliver of advantage to be gleaned to gain entry to a 'premier' school should be pursued and exploited. I.e. At all costs and no holds barred.

Once this sinks in, you have just shifted all the bargaining chips to your children. They can do anything, demand anything, as long as it gains them an 'advantage' in schooling/education/grades. It'll start with small things like rewards for grades, then requests for 'chauffeur' services, and finally a demand for you to sell your home and compromise your retirement so that they can attend an Ivy League uni.

Think its a joke? I've seen this happen, pity the poor misguided parents. Pity the kids too, who now have the completely wrong values imbibed.

Move house to get within range of a school? Not in a million years.

TOP in the Sales & Purchase doc is stated as yr 2012, which is conservative
Actual construction progress shows TOP will be at sometime during 2011, which means I would only receive TOP letter during 2011.
What I have now are just certificates of progress of construction by the developer.
So how ?? MOE only recognise Sales & Purchase documents / TOP letter..
Unless MOE accept parents to sign letter of undertaking, & I submit the TOP letter next year ??

                        Any suggestion ?
                        Thanks.
