Hi, the developer of the condo that we bought has just issued a TOP letter to us. but we are not moving in until September, after renovation. Can we use the TOP letter to register our son for a school within one kilometer of the new condo?

The following taken from the MOE website:
J: For Registration using address of yet-to-be completed property
An original Sales and Purchase document is required if the address of a yet-to-be completed property is used for registration. A copy of this document is to be retained by the school. Parents using the yet-to-be completed property address for registering their child in a school of choice must move into the new property within two years of the child’s entry into Primary One. For this purpose, the date of commitment by the developer in T.O.P (Temporary Occupation Permit) must not be later than 31 Dec 2011. -
but the condo is completed, and we have even received the keys. the problem is that we won’t be moving in until September.

Hi!
So, what will be the address shown in your NRIC? That's where the home-school distance based on. -
I suppose if you are using your new address (TOP property) to register your child in the school, it might be a good idea to change your IC address now.
I am assuming moving in Sept is all because of leadtime for renovation. It’s a good idea to change your address on your IC. To do so, you need to prove Power supply/ Credit card bills. It’s good to start diverting the letters as it usually takes a while to ensure that all your letters are 99%diverted to your new address. So July is not too early if you are gg to shift in Sept. -
but we need to do all that in such a short time. We received our keys only last week, and Phase 2C is next wednesday.
Would it be easier just to pretend that our condo is yet to be constructed, and show the school the purchase and sale agreement? -

Even if you show the school the purchase and sale agreement, you need to prove that the development will TOP by 31 Dec 2011. Usually, the TOP date shown in purchase and sale agreement is conservative. -

Sorry, I don't understand what is the big fuss? :?but we need to do all that in such a short time. We received our keys only last week, and Phase 2C is next wednesday.

If you have already received the TOP letter, and you are planning to move in September, then you are way earlier than the move-in date of 31/12/2011 required by MOE.
So my guess is you just need to show the purchase and sale agreement to prove that you do own an unit in the condo, and the TOP letter to show that you are able to move in well before the 2 years deadline is up.

if you are going to sell it you can't use it as an address for P1 registration.Actually this is very confusing!!
Oh dear, please bear with me...
My in-laws are shifting out, and we bought another place (TOP in 2012) for ourselves. Which address should we use now?? The current one (that I am staying in), or the one to be TOP-ed, which I may sell in future? Can't be use all of them right?
