Luanee:
So that means the parents of 1-2 km = 6 and Out of 2 km = 5 will most likely withdraw from MGS and go for RGPS.Think ur message was trancated. Anyway MGS stats (updated 30th July 11am) are:
Vacancies = 37
Within 1 km = 40
1-2 km = 6
Out of 2 km = 5
So looks like there will be balloting within 1km this year...
Likewise for those parents who register their daughter at NYPS if the same thing happens there. -
KSP:
And HPPS too... They already got 44 applicants within 1km for 43 places as of yesterday...That will mean the parents of 1-2 km = 6 and Out of 2 km = 5 will most likely withdraw from MGS and go for RGPS.
Likewise for those parents registering their daughter at NYPS if the same thing happens there. -
Anybody having the latest applicant statisic ( ie. breakdown <1km>2km ) for Pei Hwa ?
Appreciate if you could kindly post here, as can’t manage to call through their office number to ask for the details.
Thanks in advance. -
Latest Stats for MGS
Vacancies : 37
Applicants :
Less than 1km : 42
Bet 1 km to 2km : 4 (think 2 withdraw)
Greater than 2km : 3 (think also 2 withdraw) -
hi all,
Would you think RGPS will see a big spike tomorrow ?
Rgds,

hi mw, yes, rgps normally gets crowded on d last day…good school though
-
mwchua:
Yes mwchua, it happens every year. All with no chance of balloting in other schools will flock to RGPS on the last day and ballot > 2km.hi all,
Would you think RGPS will see a big spike tomorrow ?
Rgds,
Ming
Think the reason RGPS not as popular compared to nearby girls schools like MGS or SCGS is that it is NOT affliated to the secondary school. -
mwchua:
Yes, my prediction is the number of applications could easily double of yesterday.hi all,
Would you think RGPS will see a big spike tomorrow ?

I am also going to have same dilemma as you next year. We live <1km from SCGS, so that school is a natural choice for my elder daughter (under phase 2C). Also, I have been told that <1km under phase 2C for SCGS has not been subject to balloting for a good number of years. However, I have a younger son and we are planning to put him in NYPS when his turn comes (which would be phase 2B but we are more than 2km right now). The question is should I try to enrol my daughter in NYPS (under phase 2B if we are able to) so that I need not worry about my son's chances for NYPS as he was born in a super hot year?
NYPS:
- chinese/bilingual environment, chinese values (pretty important to us)
- academically strong
- mixed school (parents' preference)
- affiliation to nygh that has IP program (although cut-off point not very low)
SCGS:
- low cut-off to scgs (though only 4 years up to O level) (STRONG POINT)
- strong in arts/literature
- she has a younger sister only
So you can see, we are in a dilemma. On one hand, nyps is a very good and popular SAP school, and we would have gladly make this our choice, but many parents in this forum have strongly advised the choice of scgs because of its relatively low-stress primary school education (PSLE) to enter a good sec sch. DD is a pretty bright child (so we think, unashamedly...) and she could do well in a competitive environment. But then again, you never know what happens when she grows up and when PSLE is drawing near...
Of course another way is to just move nearer to NYPS when it is time to register for him (but not our preferred route as property prices are so high in that area and we also like where we stay currently), and my daughter just goes to SCGS? Afterall, it has got an affiliated secondary school and one never knows if she will do well academically until she is in the system. We also think she is bright, but then again, who knows, right?
Appreciate any comment or advice on this. What would you do if you are in our position?
Also, does anyone have any detailed info on SCGS's past PSLE results? I can't seem to find them on the school's website. Only very general comments were given. Personally, I kind of hope that one day, my daughter would be able to make it to my alma mater secondary school, but wonder if that chance would actually diminish if she goes to SCGS as SCGS seems to me more relaxed than others? -

SCGS is very 'hot' this year. Some mummies have posted in another thread that there may be balloting under 1km this year for 2C. On the other hand NYPS did not have balloting for 2B since the past few years. Maybe u can register ur dd under 2B in NYPS first, then see whether balloting is required under 2C. If balloting is required for SCGS, ur decision may be easier then.I am also going to have same dilemma as you next year. In my opinion, both are good schools. But I would think having both kids in the same school would be easier from logistics point of view. JMHO.
Erm, u happened to be from RGSS ?
