Now , am worry about the snow storm in Lake tahoe in oct, so driving may not be feasible.

Still trying to work out the itinerary.

October is still months away, it may be pleasant still. Just check the weather a week ahead.

have a good trip! i just came back from california with my family. lake tahoe camping thrown in as well. it was an enjoyable experience.
