Planning the scenarios should we not be successful in our application.
If let's say i fail to get a place in MGS in phase 2b (we live within 1km), which other Bukit Timah school can I try for in phase 2c ? Can I apply to MGS again in phase 2c ? Or in the worse case, put my girl in Bukit Timah Primary and then waitlist in all the other schools in the area, is this possible ?

If you're not successful for MGS in Phase 2B, you can try again for MGS in Phase 2C. You live within 1km, which means your chances are better than others living out of 1km.

Worst case scenario - yes, you can waitlist all schools in the area.

      :thankyou:
We decided on MGS because in the past it was a \"sure-thing\" for P2B, that all changed last year, and my wife has been on my back for my back-up plans, but been too busy with work till now *panic* :scared:[/quote]Fingers crossed it all works out for you. You're already living within 1km and have chances in Phase 2B and 2C so your odds are good. Good luck!

No lah. Not so high tech. They just put all the names into a goldfish bowl and the names are drawn out by hand one at a time. The school will draw out the first name, read it, that parent goes up, draws the next name, that next name goes up, draws the next name......

So everybody waits with bated breath for their name to be called.
In this case, how they determine 2 ballot slips for Singaporean and 1 for PR going by this traditional drawn out method?

This 2 ballot slip idea was just introduced so we haven't seen it in action yet. But I suspect the simplest thing would be to write a Singaporean's name on 2 slips, a PR's name on one slip, and drop all the slips into the goldfish bowl. so a Singaporean's chances are double that of a PR's.

Does anyone has a confirmed list of schools for former Holland-Bukit Timah GRC for next week’s P1 Phase 2B registration?

            Thanks so much!

I applied for a school in ToaPayoh area last year and we went through the 2 ballot slip balloting!!!

SG was given 2 slips - they flash on projector - showed us and put into a big fishbowl. PRs were given 1 - also flash and put into the fishbowl.

Then as they draw, they tick the name of the boy drawn in another list, so if they draw the name again, its next.... We were always happy to have a name redrawn - cos it means another chance for us parents who were eagerly waiting for our kids name to be drawn!! 😉

Given that phase 2b ends on 19 July, does MOE also release the balloting school & distance category on the same day?

Previously, the names drawn out were those who were unsuccessful. That was so traumatic for the parents they quickly changed the system. Too much crying as each name was called.

Oh, didn't know it was like this before! Good that they changed the system or we would have been the unsuccessful ones last year! We were the first few to be called. 😓

Been through the saga so can sympathise those that need to go for ballot. Hang in there!

The consolation is Bukit Timah Pri is actually quite a good school so if all else fails, it won't be the end of the world.
