Hi everyone, thanks for all these amazing information in these threads.
Iam new to the thread and I hv 1 DS attending P1 next year.
I wished I had known of this site before the registration started...
Being a parent to only 1 child, I am as \"sotong\" as can be. :shock:
So foolish are we to think that we could safely register for RMPS since we're <1km away without PV. Nw hv to ballot
In the worst case \"suay\" scenario if we missed out on the selection on 11 Aug. What do you think we should do??? :?:
Nw that GES is down to the last 40+ left for phase2C supp, could anyone kindly advise if we should just \"give up\" and secure Blangah Rise without a fight for GES in 2C supp? -

My opinion is, just go for your priorities if you have the time & your heart can take the pressure of ballotingHi everyone, thanks for all these amazing information in these threads.

Yes indeed, FMz is right. If you can't get into RMPS in Phase 2C, try for GES in Phase 2C Sup. You can always go to Blangah Rise in Phase 3 - the certainty of vacancies there is 99.9% (0.1% to cater for if the school burns down or something like that) -
We got in! :celebrate:
Actually, it was 96 vying for 65 places. My heart really sank the moment we saw \"96\" applicants on the board. Thank goodness!
By the way, the principal gave a briefing before balloting started. I will post here later more information on RMPS for parents who are interested in sending their children to this school in future. So, stay tuned.
Chipmunks, did you manage to get in? -

:congrats: :rahrah: Finally you now can put your heart at ease. Wow 96 fighting for 65 places? I thought RMPS said only 80? Chance at 67% only to secure a place.
You are at what number being call?l? Can give how the balloting scene at RMPS? Let's hope Chipmunks also have good luck also.
Therefore there would be about 31 unsuccessful applicants where the next schools they target would be GESPS or BRPS.
GESPS = 40 (Phase 2C Supp)
BRPS = 158 (Phase 2C) -
:congrats: qms

Hi qms
Congratuations to you !

Hi All!
Thank you all for the congratulations!
We arrived at about 8.55 am, and were directed to the AVA room. Many parents were already there, some with their children, waiting for the balloting to commence.
The principal started with a briefing of the school. Her main points are:
- 1. There is no such thing as bad school in Singapore. We only have good schools. With curriculum centralised by MOE, how can there by bad schools? The difference is the focus of the school.
That's all I can remember, for now. I will add on if I recall any more. In short, the principal emphasised, several times, on the need for punctuality. She told parents that life in RMPS would not be easy, and for parents who do not want their children to go through it, please withdraw their children.
2. RMPS is focussed in IT. They conduct inhouse IT classes, as opposed to getting external vendors. To support the inhouse IT classes, they have employed two IT professionals, based full-time in the school. All students will go through IT lessons conducted by the inhouse IT professionals. By the time a child goes to secondary school, he/she will have learned six (6) different types of softwares.
3. The pincipal emphasised a lot on punctuality. She expects all parents to inculcate this value in their children. If any child were to play truant or late in submitting homework, she would not scold the child. She would call up the parents and \"reprimand\" the parents.
4. They spearheaded the compulsory CCAs from Primary 1. This is the reason why traffic along Lower Delta Road is quite bad on Friday because Zhangde and CHIJ Kellock have also followed suit.
5. The school has compulsory camp from Primary 1. All Primary 6 students go for overseas camp.
6. RMPS is not a future school. However, all the classrooms are equipped with electronic whiteboards.
7. Parents who want their child to be in single gender class have to inform the school about this request. The school is able to make such an arrangement.
The balloting started after the 15-minute briefing. The names and numbers of the children were printed in pieces of paper, and parents were encouraged to check to ensure that all numbers were in order.
There were 96 applicants, including two pairs of twins. One pair of the twins got in. My son was the 19th or 20th number to be called out (you see? I was so anxious that I couldn't remember!). The whole balloting was over in half an hour.
One of the unsuccessful parents was very distraught. I overheard her telling the principal that she stayed just next to the school and she could practically \"throw\" her son to the school from her flat.
Hi Raynreg/Rena!
Thank you very much! Looking forward to exchanging papers with you in future!

hi qms, CONGRATULATIONS…better than ‘tio beh pio’?
I liked point 3 where the principal said she’ll scold the parents (not the students) - think this is particularly true for younger children.
