Wow, school do start them young! P1 only and there's remedial lesson?

Am just wondering if the kiddos will be tired especially when they just started primary school? I guess IJ OLQP do the same too. I am sure if my gal do get in,she will be one of those staying back for maths! I am considering if I want to subject my gal to this situation...hmmmm
i want them to enjoy school as much as possible.

      Hi Beanstalk,
I realize teachers will request that weaker girls in IJ TP attend extra class after school hours from P1...they do pay attention to each and every girl and I'm appreciative of that little effort.
My daughter has been identified for Math/English remedial from Term 2...so she stays back every Friday till 330pm.

This school doesn't believe in letting girls drop to very poor levels before identifying them for remedial.

The extra attention helps. Some kids need time, others just need things explained to them in a different way. A few have learning disabilities.

I know a girl at IJ TP with high-achieving parents and older siblings (probably part of her problem). She was identified at P1 for extra help and is now doing fine.

My gals stay back 2-3 times per week for remedial, enrichment and also for the niche CCA prog. I can tell that they do enjoy the extra lessons…in fact, I know that some parents request to let their gals attend the extra remedial classes but are not granted. The teachers usu try to keep the class size small so that the weaker gals can get the necessary attentions.

          Hi,

Does anyone has any comments (positive/negative) about CHIJ Kellock? I’m staying 1-2km from this school. Thinking to gather more information about the school before deciding if I shd enrol my daughter there. Thank You

I am relieved my daughter has been identified for extra remedial...seems a little :yikes: to start remedial at P1, but grateful that IJ TP believes in giving that extra support early.
After the test in May, there was a revamp for Chinese. My daughter's class has just 16 (including her)...on top of that, she has remedial for CL every Thur. I've see an improvement.

My P2 gal has chinese remedial every thursday too and I have also seen an improvement in her Chinese from (P1 SA2 to P2 SA1)..I was contemplating to send her to extra pte tuition classes but now I think I trust that her sch remedial will help her to brush up her chinese...and I save time and $$ as well.

It's easier to teach my daughter tingxie now.

Hello, my girl's dentist also recommended CHIJ Kellock as her girl is also there. Hope this is another reassurance. 😄
