Just to share, my girl attended Semipi for about 6mths when she was 3and 1/2. She was doing fine (not excellent) and I found the young teacher could not really engage the kids. So I withdrew her and engaged another teacher who was leaving the school at the same time to give her one to one at home ( I knew her thru the make up class in Semipi and found her teaching is very lively). She is doing much better and progress much more comparing to group lesson. The teacher has quite rich experiences, she has been teaching in different well known music schools, and is able to engage young kids effectively. To me, she makes music fun for my daughter, she plays games to help her learn and cultivate her interest on music. From my experience, if you could get a good teacher, it is better to go for private lesson, same time save money, and the result is obvious.

        Dear all,

Thanks for sharing your experiance and I heard that from the personnel in the school that other parent also have similar as me. CASE has helped us to write a letter to get back our deposit. The officer told us although the usual rate is $170 for 4 session of 45 min even if they want to quote us $160 for 4 session of 30 min. They are not considering overcharging as there are no fix price list. If there is a fix price list and the school charges us more than that then this is consider overcharge. The school is a company i believe they are aware of this thus they only publish rate for group class and not for the individual class. So we r advice us just to withdraw my child, get back the deposit and forget about the whole incident.

So it been a mth and suddenly I received a legal letter from the school claiming that I have hurt their staffs and asked me to compensate thousands of dollar. I am shocked as I only snatch the enrolement form from her as they refuse to give me a black n white quotation instead the lady wrote the pricing on the enrolement form. And because case advice us to get a black n white quotation that is y I snatched fr her.

We seeked legal advice n he told us although the whole sound unfair to parent n i didn’t touch or scold the lady but they can use the fact of me snatching the enrolement form n took it fr the premise as a charge to me. It just my luck to have meet Semipi music school.

          Hi,
May I recommend myself as your child piano teacher? For beginner $70, Grade 1 $80 & Grade 2 $100. Duration: 45 min, 30 min practical & 15 min Theory. I'll assist you for ABRSM Theory & Practical Registration. Anyway, you may consider the payment per session basis. For your consideration. Violet Ang (hp:813-813-77)

Is there a music school that specialise in music composition? My child is interested in learning how to compose a song using piano. Or does a child need to compose a song as they move on to higher grade? At which grade is composition expected?

At grade 5 theory, there is a question on music composition which is given a high weightage of 15 marks. However, it is only a 8-bar composition.

Thanks ks2me. Grade 5 theory seems to be a long way from where he is currently.

For the composition in gr 5 theory, there is a formula to follow.

In gr 6-8 theory, the weightage is 20 mks but can use the formula learned in gr 5.

Some music sch do introduce music composition in music appreciation classes like MYC and Yamaha special junior advance class.

This yamaha course focus on composing. There will be competiton every now and then and winners will have to opportunity to perform or compete overseas.

[/quote]pianojazzy, he doesn't have the pre-requisite criteria to join YJAC as he does not attend the 4/JXC. All he has is the 4 months of learning in group piano class.

Read through MYC. I see some comments which makes me presumed, it is not suitable for ds.

snowz, thanks for watching the video & the pm. He happily creates using his hearing. I do have more question to ask. Will pm you later in the week when things are less hectic.

                        Hi EN,
Did you call up Yamaha to check? One pre-requisite I know is that he must be at least 6 years old. If he is very good in his hearing, I don't see why they would not accept if he does well at the audition.
