      Think I'm now at a \"dead-end\" 😞

We are staying in Sengkang and my daughters are now under my mum's care, who stayed in tampines. We will hv our girl enrol into a sch in tampines next year using mum's address. Choices of sch includes Gongshang, ChongZheng and East Spring. Looking at today's statistic, these 3 schools required balloting for <1km ... this means that we dont even stand a chance to ballot under 1-2 km category... .. .. ... :x and we strongly feel it will happen next year... .. ...

Either we get get ourselve shifted to <1km from these sch and get a guarantee chance to ballot (and with $$$ burden) ... or we just enrol into into a lesser popular sch...

😞 really a tough decision to make ...

            Cloudy,

You situation is very similar to me. I stay in North East Zone as well and mum taking care of my girl and boy in CC in Tampines. For me, fortunately, I got to learn about this forum earlier cos 2010 will be the registration year for my son and I will definitely be a PV in the preferred school.

How about trying for the alumni or associations (Check whether either Chongzheng or Gongshang belong to Hokkien Huei Kwan) to get your kid into schools you are looking for since you have missed the PV?

Actually, if you dun mind Tampines Primary, I guess it is not a too bad school. This school will be my choice for my kids as well. But they have currently relocated to Bedok for big renovation at the Tampines site… till dun know when…

              Dear mamachris,

tks for your comments... at present situation... joining alumini or clan may not be an option for us now. hv read through some posts on this.. and this does not seem to be an easy route...
moreover both husband and me are teochews...

btw, just curious, will the sch accept PV who does not stay within the area ?

tampines primary did cross my mind .. will definitely look into more details on this sch.. since they will be having a new building in coming years.

              cheers 😄

This morning we went through balloting process in St Hilda (within 1 km) but .... failed to get a place anyway....As a mom, the whole balloting process almost give me a \"heart attack\" (left the hall in the mid of balloting). I heard so many stories about getting to Primary 1 in Singapore, but the reality is really a nightmare (yap....even dream of it last nite). Are there any lucky or unlucky parents out there to share info about any schools around Tampines or Bedok?Looking forward to the next war on phase 2C Supp......

Hi okahill, yes, it is indeed a nightmare. We have updated the list of schools with vacancies - there are 100 of them - http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/singapore-primary-1-registration-school-balloting-history. Hopefully, you can find a suitable school that you can be sure of getting into there.

Hi janice_0950... you are a little incoherent due to your panic... in reality, for most parents, with a little bit of preparation and a lot of luck, most parents usually breeze through P1 registration. You don't need to go for a branded school, and you probably have your or your husband's ex-school to fall back on if you want a hassle-free registration.

If you want to go for branded schools like St. Hilda's, you must know that the odds are heavily against you. What we hope is that KiasuParents.com can educate parents well enough to understand what they are up against, so that they can set more realistic and achievable goals for themselves and their children. That's the reason why we painstakingly provide statistics throughout the entire exercise so that parents can go into the process with their eyes wide open, and to consider contigency plans should the original plan not work out.

Dear Okahill, i guess alot of people are disapointed with the balloting results. I am also one of the unlucky ones. In fact, i witness the first 20 draws up there, I witness two of my friends’ daughters’ name being balloted. This is really luck. So envy. to ensure fairness, i keep telling the one who is drawing to keep stiring the draw cares as i seen alot of them stick together. Anyway, don’t be discouraged. Life’s goes on. I probably try Tampines Primary School. Most important is we are there to support and guide our child when they are in primary one. GOOD LUCK!
