Thought its kinda of far. Unlike Kellock and Radin we have direct bus.

Eventhough GES is within 2km, may have a shot at 2C supp, but the school accessibility is very limited. Imagine u need 3 buses to get home :siao: well just thinkin of long term when she gets on upper primary.

Wat attracted me to BRPS is walking distance and AM session. So she have PM to rest for her evening enrichment programme.

but just worry....wat abt BRPS tat holding pple bk? We pretty new to this estate as we moved in only 6-yrs ago. If there real concerns, k some kind soul PM me?

My cousin graduated from Blangah Rise Prim, but that was 20 years ago. It was quite good at that time. She went to Crescent Girls' School subsequently, followed by SAJC and NUS. Unsure about the standard now.

As for Gan Eng Seng, my relative's house is within walking distance to the school but she did not even consider the school last time. Reason being it had a very bad reputation 7-8 years ago. In the end, she put her son into River Valley prim. She was fortunate at that time cos no balloting required for out of 2km last time. However, seems that GES has brushed up its reputation recently and the school is able to attract more students living around the school.

IMPO, the nearer the school, the better it is for us. Reason being the travelling time can be spent on doing other quality work. If you live in Telok Blangah, why don't you just put your child in the nearest school as long as the standard and environment are acceptable? Many times, it's the parents who push the kids to excel in work. Seldom the teachers nowadays. Even for top schools like Nanyang, it's also the parents who put in loads of effort in pushing the kids by sending them to all the enrichments/tuitions, though their test and exam papers may be harder than many other schools.

Many parents at 2CS are trying to get their kids into the nearest school but unable as they are all filled up. They now have the balloting fear for those out of 2km.

Was looking at their results, thought they are quite gd being slightly above natiional average. I guess that would be the more approriate comparison other than the tiering chart :scratchhead:

Nothin against BRPS, i also came from neighbourhood sch - Jurong Primary. Just worry being the least preferred option by others created a less competitive environment within the school ie less enthusiastic
teaching since they not stress by the fact to maintain certain standings in the billboard? well we just have to :xedfingers: that the moe standard are maintained across the schools

and of course, with the fact no parents from BRPS participated in the thread discussion made us more panaroid...
Else, like all you mentioned, distance and AM session, could be the important factors to consider, at least for now....:roll:

I intend to register my gal for 2013 P1 with NanHua and we stay at yew tee. I just called the bus company to find out the timing of picking up and alighting. Pick up at around 6am, alight at around 2pm+. Now I am not sure if I should just let my gal go to a school which is nearby our place or still go Nanhua as we are phase 2A2 eligible. :slapshead:

Nanhua has got excellent 2010 PSLE results...my estimate around mean t-score 230, similar to Tao Nan and RGPS. Doubt if there's a school in Bukit Panjang that's anywhere close. But results isnt everything... the choice is yours.

Can any kind parents share abt the environment at both sajs and acps? I wonder which would help in nurturing boys into a more confident pupil. Which would you choose if distance and religion are not big issues?


I am asking abt these 2 schs because sajs is near my home and acps is near my workplace. Both quite convenient for me to drop him off. Also both have affiliate sec schs which do not require pupils to have sky-high PSLE scores but the pupils I believe still do ok.

Anyone can give feedback?

Try ACSJ, it might be a touch easier to get in than ACSP unless u have some connections. Both ACS are about the same academically, (ACSJ ahead last year), and significantly ahead of St Andrews Junior.

Hi DS needs to register for P1 in 2013 for 2014 intake. DH is old boy of Poi Ching in Tampines, but we live close to amk, but there isn’t any school within 1km. The closest school are about 2km and the better school is anderson primary. We have no intention to move house.


I am SAHM but am planning to go back to work. Even in the event that I do not work, i do not drive as well. So if DS were to go to Poi Ching, he has to take school bus. I feel that the distance is too far to Poi Ching.

Should we go for Poi Ching or try our luck for anderson ? For anderson does that mean i have to apply for PV for a better chance ? TIA

if u intend to stay on in AMK area, don't think u should send DS to Poi Ching. Really too far for the poor kid. There is balloting for P2B for Anderson this year. You should do more research to assess your chances. Check out the AMK schools thread.

Hi dorisp, I will consider PV after discussing with DH. I am quite sure he wants Poi Ching, so now thinking how to get him to reconsider. I will also consider other schools in Hougang.
