Ya, surprisingly enrichment ranks so low! Recently came across this article which made me rethink all the extra classes

        http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/13/your-money/childrens-activities-no-guarantee-of-later-success.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all%3Fsrc%3Dtp&smid=fb-share

          WCW:
i will say all plays a part, without any of them the result will be affected 🙂

so, KSP can add in all as a option :please:
          Agree!

i’m a bit confused about this ranking because there are so many situations.

Assuming no family violence or unstability (ie divorce), to get good pri sch results,
                1) If the child is hardworking, I will rank

\tThe child –> The enrichment –> The family –> The school

I will rank family before enrichment only if the family steps in to select suitable enrichment for the child. I will rank family before enrichment only if the family cannot afford enrichment, then they must step in to ensure that the kid has other resources or teach the kid how to look for answers elsewhere (assessment books).

                2) If the child is lazy, I will rank,
\tThe family –> The enrichment –> The child –> The school

If the kid is lazy, enrichment can show the family short cuts and spot questions and technique for the kid to learn within half the time.

                3) If the family is busy working and low income/educational level, and the kid is average, i will rank,
The child –> The school –> the enrichment –> the family

                4) If the kid is a genius, but not too hardworking, i will rank,
The school –> The family –> The enrichment –> The child

                now i am getting confused…
easy to list factors, but which contributes more depends on situation if your end result is concerned about how to do well in school.

                  sleepy:
                  My ranking

                  1. Parents and sbiling - to monitor progress and give motivational speeches regularly
                  2. The child - with confidence and high self-esteem
                  3. Enrichment classes - especially during preschool years for headstart

                  10. The school
                  :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

but seriously, if that is the role that the school plays in a child's life - Its a sorry state of affairs.

                    jedamum ,

i guess KSP means for a typical child

But then again there are just one type of children, liked the thinking out aloud of your opinion…
                    And agree with your point

                      @jedamum

After reading your long summary, it points back to the quality/type of the child himself/herself.

So the child is the important factor.

Smart kids are smart kids, do nothing, they will still do well themselves.

On the other, the not smart and the lazy, whatever you do, even you get heart attack, vomit blood or high blood pressure until blood burst from your head, you will still feel so helpless even you invest full time on them.
