hi, anyone able to share more on the above? my pd said my dd may (can't remember if he said may??)have asthma based on observation that her cough/flu usually end up affecting the lungs. but he said no need for long term medication. so i m a little confused as to whether she's confirmed to be asthmatic or more prone to become asthmatic?? my pd did say hopefully its something she grows out of in primary school.

he prescribed dhatifen (a type of antihistamine) and singulair and our usual ventolin for her cough and slight runny nose (no fever). i brought her to pd after she didn't recover from her usual ventolin after one week plus and cough seem to sound more phlegmy.

so far the info i googled on seems to be more on asthma symptoms so doesn't really help me. i guess the pd's words came as a surprise to me that i didn't have time to think thru what to ask him. so would appreciate if any parents can share your experiences helping your kids and making sure they dun suffer from any asthma attacks. tks.

            Hi foreverj,

How old is your DD? And how long has she been started to have lung infection cough?

Share with you my boy's story...

My youngest boy (4yrs 10mths now) used to have bad cough whenever he fell sick when he was 1.5 to 3.5 yrs old. The other 2 kids were stronger and not having bad cough as often as him. Phlegmy cough, watery eyes, wheezing and sometimes got fever. Usually last for 1 week plus. Sometimes when I juz started to feel relax for few days after he has recovered... goshz... he was unwell again! ๐Ÿ˜“

Yes, his cough always ended up affecting lungs. So he was on those asthmatic medication (inhaler) daily for about 1 year, given by specialist in KKH. On top of that, he also used medication fr PD like ventolin, singulair(for few mths), antibiotics etc and used nebulizer too when he caught very bad cough.

The above symptoms or story used to repeat almost every mth! :stupid: Whenever he was unwell starting with sneezing, I knew my night mare came! He used to cough through out whole night. Only fell to sleep in peace at abt 4 or 5am! Kept on coughing non stop for few minutes. Stopped awhile. Then cough again.... The cough can only be stopped by using the nebulizer medication 3 hourly. But sometimes it didn't work! His cough only reduced gradually after taking the medicine for at least 2 days. :scared: Really helpless...

It caused him always absent from playgroup and then nursery too. We were wondering why he always fell sick as we have been trying to make sure he took Nutrilite vitamin C daily, took cod liver oil few times per week. And no chocolate, cold water, peanut, peanut butter, grapes, oranges, watermelon etc. Candies only taken once awhile given by teachers. No candies at home. No chicken for his meals. Never stepped out from house at night. Always changed his clothing according to changes of weather. And we don't have any family history of asthma as well...

I was not sure whether the western medicine has treated his asthmatic cough temporarily, but at same time has weakened his immune system too. I determined to switch him to see TCM after under those specialists for about 2 yrs. Thank God it worked for him!!! My night mare has overed... :xedfingers: I felt very surprised too! And glad we no longer needed to use the nebulizer which we bought at home!

Share my boy's story is to let others know that he has been sufferred fr asthmatic cough for yrs. And has been using asthmatic medicine fr specialist in KKH for more than 1 yr, and medicine fr PD for abt 2 yrs on and off. But now he is TOTALLY recovered well through TCM. So I think its worth to try TCM for asthmatic cough...

            Cheers...

Thank you very much Insider. Let me know when he is ready to take in new patients again. Wish your wrist recover soon. Do you have heart problem? I heard my ex-teacher who suffering heart problem starting with pain of half upper body. Just donโ€™t forget to do your annual checkup to make sure this is not related to anything else.

Btw, I brought my daughter to see ่ฎธๅŒปๅธˆ at ไธญๅŽๅŒป้™ขๅคงๅทด็ช‘ๆ€ป้™ข that GreenQ recommended last Friday and stopped all the western medicine including the Asthma puff. He requsted to see her weekly, the Chinese medicine he gave is to clear her phlegm, after that will start to treat her nose and ๅทฉๅ›บher ่‚บๅŠŸ่ƒฝ. He also told me not to let her have cold drink, sweets, sour fruits etcโ€ฆ My daughter is doing ok this few days with the Chinese medicine. Hope she found a good doc that suits her.

Thank you all parents for sharing and all your advice. Wish all our kids and our family good health!

                  Hi Insider,

do you do a lot of computer work? Usually the carpal tunnel condition is linked to that. have you tried changing to more ergonomic mouse/keyboards etc? You can find them in Challenger Superstore.

Take care and all the best! ๐Ÿ™

thanks greenq for sharing your story. which TCM did u go to? I m very cautious abt TCM cos I dun know what they put into the medicine. Plus my colleague strongly discourage me from using TCM becos she had a baby nephew went for tui-na and ended up with an injured neck!! :!:

but i agree with u that i dun think the western medicine is good for my dd who is 3 plus. so far, the dhatifen has bad side-effects like tearing and drowsiness. the cough has reduced but when she coughs, the sound is deep, meaning the lungs does not seem to have improved. so far the lung infected cough is abt one week cos the light cough only worsened last week. hopefully after this round of medicine wil be ok, otherwise wil have to go back to pd and spend $$$ again. sigh...

let me know where is the TCM and which doctor? thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, foreverj, you are absolutely right to have be more cautious abt TCM. There are a lot of TCM clinics around singapore. Not easy to choose a reliable one.

Anyway, I have chosen this TCM hospital for my boy. Mainly because it is a proper organized TCM hospital. I believe the management there will not anyhow employ those unqualified chinese physicians there. And there are few chidren specialists there. So I think it is much much better for my boy to be treated by someone who specialize in children illness.

Regarding the medicine used by TCM... I don't have much comments as I am not from medical line. To me, even though I knew the prescriptions using by PD and the specialist in KKH, but I have no choice. Can I juz throw away their medicine as I knew its sure will have side effect on my boy's short term and long term health? No, I can't bcoz I have no choice. They are the expertists in this line. Who else can I trust if not them?

In fact and to be fair to those specialists or PD, they actually tried their best to help our children to get well in a fast and effective way. But to me, the problem was why my boy kept repeating this asthmatic cough. Took those 'harmful' medicine for almost 2 yrs on and off.... ๐Ÿ˜ข

The big diff to use TCM service is my boy no longer has asthmatic cough now! Only normal cough. He recovered very fast in 2 to 4 days only whenever he falls sick occationally. We also save lots $ compared to those days under PD consultation. Wow... can't believe how much have we spent during those 2 yrs. Each visit to PD will cost $300+! Then got follow up fee. And also the consultation + medicine fee every 3 mths when we visited lung specialist in KKH... :!:

So I like this ไธญๅŽๅŒป้™ข coz the medical service there is good and cheap.. Less than $10 per visit for 1 week medicine... (chief, I am not trying to advertise la... ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).

                        Juz share my opinion here.
