I got the same question too from my boy. Only difference is that we are looking through anatomy book meant for kids which shows our internal organ. I think the teacher must have taught him something because when I told him, he used to be in mummy’s tummy, he corrected me that he comes from my womb & out from the private part.
How baby is form, I reply a man & a woman must get married first. He continued with his story of bees & flowers & describe the process of pollination. Told me he was taught in school. So… I hope for now his curiosity has been answered & it will be quite a few years later that this question pops up again. -

It is misleading but he happily told me about the flower & the bees story so I dont see the need to continue.
About a few months back, I went to Borders & I thought I saw Flower & Bees book. But I did not pick it up to glance through it. So not sure if the book is good to buy. -
When I told my son I'd tell him when he was older, he said \"Oh please, tell me when I'm still young!\" :shock: We used the encyclopedia which had very good illustrations, and I said it in the most clinical way possible. Didn't ask for more explanations after that, thank goodness!

My son, 6, had asked where did he come fm and I explained that it was fm the womb and explain how he grew n was inside mummy for abt 9 mths. He was happy w the answer.
Today, he told me that his classmate, Crystal, wants to marry him but his classmate, Wei fen wants to warry his mummy. He asked him whether he would like to marry his mummy? His answer was : When I grow up, you would be too old, hee hee . :roll: -
When my younger girl was 4 +, she asked me how come her elder sis was born first and not her? I went, \"er ... because you played scissors, paper, stone, and you lost so jie jie came out first.\" :lol:
Hahaha .. not the best answer but she believed it.
Anyway, the kids knew that daddy put them in mummy's stomach, and that was about it. They haven't probe any further for now, but I have a book on the birds and the bees handy, designed for children with graphical explanation, except that I haven't the chance to show it to the kids.
When one of them pops the question again, I will bring out the book and go through the facts with a straight mind, with daddy in tow. I would like to be able to discuss it as though it is a general topic and it's nothing to be shy about. Easier said than done ?? -

(OMG, my \"chicken and hen\" story failed the purpose.) This time I told her it was like the growing phases of a plant, first you are a seed, then it sprouts, grows, blooms, then bears fruits/seed again when you grow big enough. And she said \"I see\" three times and seemed quite approving of my answer this time. :lol: I think I really need to get an encyclopedia and keep it handy like you did. Anyway, kids are given sex education at P4/P5, I cant remember exactly which year. I can ask them and give a comfirmed answer later. We discussed briefly but they felt embarassed too.
Given what they learnt in school and hearsay from friends, I plan to reaffirm their knowledge when they are closer to puberty. My children asked me when puberty is and what changes they expect. I told them a few -
1) voice break
2) hair changes at some areas e.g. arm pits, pubic etc
3) for my gal, boobs and menstruation
4) for my boy, leg hairs, moustache etc
5) maturing minds
I think they look forward to puberty coz they see it as the start of young adulthood and the door to more freedom. So if you want to take the easy way out, tell them that they will learn in primary school.

I told my kids, as soon as they are able to understand, that they came from my tummy.
I also told them that its like \"pass motion\" when they came out from my tummy :lol: And it was very very painful for me. Both my kids understood immediately, because both also had very bad constipation before :lol:
I also told them that when they were in my tummy, they \"drank\" my blood using a \"straw\" (umbilical cord) through their belly buttons
They were totally amazed. I think this reinforces how important mommy is to them !
My hubby also showed them (in books and video), how the sperm came into contact with the egg (microscopic view), and how the cells start dividing after that. But we never said anything about the sperm got into Mommy's tummy :oops: I only told them that a man and a woman must get married first before that can happen.
My mother used to tell me that she picked me up from a rubbish dump, and for a long time(until I studied Biology) I actually believed her ! -
