Public Transporation In Singapore

:goodpost:I want to add a comment about the GOOD thing that LTA (I guess) have done..
That is.. BUS LANE!!!!!
wonderful....
minimum cost but improves public transport service considerably..
And, take public mass transport = better for the environment then private transport.. -
It seems that the Downtown Line is under SBS Transit now…

I HAVE TWO MAIN COMPLAINTS!
It is HAUNTED! Be it bus or train.
The rear of the bus and the middle of the train is haunted. The ghosts are very powerful cos commuters do not move to the rear or middle respectively unless they encounter a even stronger one. If it is not haunted, I cannot think of any other explanation for their refusal to get their body to these spots!!
Secondly, the ventilation is very bad in the MRT. If a commuter breaks wind, the rest of the commuters are expected to have mastered the skill of holding their breath till the next station. This is too much as sometimes, the distance between the next station can be rather long or the train moves slowly and stop intermittently. -
Why you complain to the PTOs that people refuse to move to the back? Is it their Problem? Can they magically make people move to the back? If you want to complain, complain about yourself, to yourself. Because sad to say, no one except us can do anything about it. We do it, yet we complain about it. What kind of logic is that?

And may I ask you in which developed cities are public transport not crowded during peak hours?
hmm..
Actually, I hv a suggestion.. quoted you bcoz you seems to hv detailed understanding of the transport system so maybe can offer some valuable comments/opinions.
Say, the current train, why not they add 1 car in front and 1 car behind? this will increase the length and capacity of the trains by 33%, and help in the over crowding problem.. the additional cars' doors will not open, or the can have locked/disabled doors.
1 or 2 doors at the extreme ends could be dedicated to access for these additional cars/cabin.
Or 1 of these additional car can be woman only cabins.
Surely, those travelling long distance would be attracted to fill this cabins (esp if there are seats available)? so under utilisation may not be an issue.. These extra cabin should not have poles at the center so that no one can stand in the center and this maintains an unblocked walkway.
Anyway, some observations.. A few times when I took trains during peak hours, I noticed the next train come almost immediately as the prev one left.. But the trains are still packed and crowded.. so, it's not an issue of frequency as it could already hv been maxed out.. but more of capacity? It may be difficult to increase frequency further w/o compromising safety..
having higher capacity trains is also more efficient.. -
