CHIJ Family of Schools

Hi Mummies,
I would like to check with you regarding different ‘IJ’ schools’ standards.
My daughter is at IJ TP (P1) and there are 3 tests - May, Aug and Oct…EL/CL Oral included. Is this the same at other IJ schools ? A bit breathless with so many tests whole year…too ‘ON’ in my opinion. -

Janet_lee88, 3 tests each subject and you find it breathless? Wait till you hear about my children's school. :faint:Hi Mummies,

My dd is in St Nick's (P3). Back in P1, they did not have any formal exams. If I'm not mistaken, they still do not have CAs/SAs for the P1s now. What dd had were pop quizzes/assessments that were given throughout the year without prior notice. In fact, I remember that they do not explicitly tell you which scores would be included officially so even after you get the papers back, you would not know if the scores count or not.Hi Mummies,

Assessment of the students were done through this together with daily work and assignments like show-and-tell. For mummy here, I just have to make sure that dd revises her work consistently and is prepared for any unofficial tests thrown her way. For dd, P1 was like a year-long party and she had a blast

Will there be ballot for phase 2B for Catholics or its a secure place?
Yes.minachee:
Hi Everyone,
We will be registering our daughter for primary one next year. Just wondering, being Catholics, does that mean that we will automatically be in phase 2B regardless of which convent school we choose? -
It’s not a secure place, being Catholics only allow you to go into phase 2B without having to do parent volunteer work. If the number of applicants in that phase exceed the vacancies, priority goes to those within one KM, then one to two KM, then those more than two KM.

I don't know if she finds P1 a blast. However, we do try to make sure she revises her work consistently. Fortunately, we do know when the dates of the tests are.

We will be registering our daughter in IJ Katong under Phase 2B. She should get in without any issue. Now I am wondering if there is a car pool from Tampines to IJ Katong.
