      Just wanna share experience…

I just had a bad experience with this agency at orchard road "Super XXXXXXXXX Specialist"

We relied on them for info regarding maid on home leave (maid still under contract) but agency is not updated. Didnt know that maid need KTKLN. Indo Embassy (when we went to get tax endorsement) also didnt inform us. Maid is now in Indo, stuck and cannot come back. She went to airport but was stopped at custom. So maid decide not to come back. Maid also cannot be contacted.

Essentially I feel that the contract is useless. It doesnt protect any of the parties, even if it does, it does so mostly on the maid’s side. the contract has no real effect in any way. Maid run home, use what to sue her? hah… What about employers who unfortunately employs bad maids? then how? Employer abuse maid, we’ve heard lots, but maids that are irresponsible?

      So disheartening…

[Peace Charlie, I tot its strange when I read your comment previously abt Indon going braless.. cos i never encountered one.... BUT LO AND BEHOLD, my indon maid of 1 mth appeared in front of me braless on Sat night!! :yikes:

When I questioned her, she said she go braless when she sleeps... I told her I can't accept it as here she is walking ard the house w/o a bra... that night, my hub slept early, BUT he is usually still up at that hour. There are men in the family, so I cannot accept her going braless. Period. :scared: :frustrated:[/quote]

sigh... i also caught my filipino maid braless on her first night with us. And it was in my rules to her that she has to wear a bra on all times! She used her hands to over her breast area when she see me, still....Don't think she'll heed my words to not wear at night, just have to ask my hubby to avert his eyes if he happen to wake up at night.. =(

I guess it’s just their habit from home and they don’t think it’s weird. I suppose as long as they are discreet it should be OK i.e. just to walk from their room to the bathroom if necessary.

Yesterday I sent my maid to the agency for counseling session. After that I saw her keep crying in the kitchen and she also said sorry to me. How can I handle her now? Can somebody advise? Pretend nothing happen or ?

I usually tell my maids (in a gentle but firm tone) 'sorry no cure, cry no use, next time do better can already'. And if she persists in drowning in her tears, i will call the agency and tell them to talk to her. It's easier for someone to talk to her in her own language.

I'm fairly hard hearted, will be half wondering if she is putting on a show. But yes, there is a risk she may be the next to jump, hang or do whatever crazy things.

And oh, I will also then remind her why she is here in SG. not to get scolding, but to do work, do it well, ma’am happy, you will also be happy. 2 years later, wallet full full, go home and stay happy.
