2011 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

Hi hi I'm new in this forum... Enjoyed reading all your post n advises ! I have 2 sons and I realized that boys being boys.. They mature slower than girls in general. Like Ngbrdad mentioned.. They do not know stress very much at this p6 age.. Girls are more mature thus kiasu syndrome all showing. My boys can live daily with just soccer and need the carrot n stick all the time to get academic done. My ds1 only bother to bucked up at the very last min n my ds2 Bo chap at all!
I guess for boys the more u push them the more defiant they get.. So just hv to pray n wait for them to mature soon

Hi linlaoshiclass,Hi!
Just like to share, for chinese composition there are 3 parts you can improve on:
1. 吸引人的开头段
2. 好词好句
3. 有内涵的结语 (最后一段)
most students can do pt 1 and 2 if they work hard in memorizing.
for pt 3, you need to brainstorm of the moral u want to tell before you start your composition.
A sample of a good conclusion is
原来危险并不可怕,害怕面对危险的心理比害怕本身更可怕。
Good luck to all P6 students and parents!
Thanks for sharing.

Actually for chinese. for paper 2, they will only be tested on words on the list that they are supposed to know right ?

SAplayer:
Not necessary so. It really depends on the cohort's performance.
Aggregate around 140 i guess? :xedfingers:Evalim:
Yes! There are upon 100 marks.... I just want to know will my child touch NT for his secondary course.... I just hope he can go for NA...as for E I guess is difficult...
BTW, NT means Normal Technical, NA means Norma Academic, E means Express...
Sorry anyone knows?? :imsorry:
@Evalim : please do NOT feel discouraged. The fact that he's from SAP sch may mean that the standard in the school is higher. Your child may surprise you and do better than expected. Just continue to encourage him and not to give up. This is not the time to be resigned to fate. Most important thing is that he has done his best. -
Evalim:
Hi! Can I check anyone knows for prelium : English 52(C), Chinese 50(C), Maths35(D) and Science 52(C), any idea what T score will be for PSLE? My child come from a SAP school... he is also stress.... hopeful he can do welll!
Actually I know of people whose kids scored borderline passes at prelims and ended up getting As and Bs at PSLE itself. So, continue to
and :xedfingers: that he will do well. All the best!!

@Eva, i also agree with schweppes. Dont think too much and worry yrself. You may not know yr ds is a "black horse" he unleashes it at this PSLE. Besides yr ds in Sap school standard is higher. Just 2-3 papers to go, jia you!

DS2 is very different from DS1, very playful & not serious in his studies! Is it true that the younger ones always give their parents more headaches & heart-aches??!! :frustrated: :slapshead:
Hi firefly,
Ke ke...Hope not.
:xedfingers:
At the moment, DD2 is in P2 and is very cheeky & playful. Although we try our best not to compare but we can't help but notice that DD1 and DD2 are as different as chalk and cheese.

Snow Crystal:
Hi Snow Crystal,concerned9999:
I am also worried about my chinese paper as it is my weakest subject.
I spent the whole day memorising a chinese composition, just in case
You have come this far so press on for the last leg. For compo, since so last minute already, go memorize some good phrases and words for compo beginning and endings for a few different scenarios, you should be fine. Read some model compos. Just don't write out of point, write logical plot and remember to write compo number. If you are weak in Chinese, please choose picture compo, don't bother about ming ti. Unless the picture very cheem haha. And leave time to check for wrong words. All the best! :rahrah:
Thanks for sharing. Very good advice indeed!!

Thanks everyone! Thanks for all of your warmth encouragement! I feel better now, at first I cannot accept that he might ended up in the NT cos I feel he can do better … I guess that is every parents feeling… feel that their child is still bright and can do better… but I feel that even if he really have to go NT… that means he should start from there… my child is not at that level yet… if I want him to do NA … it will burden him further… and he might fail all the way and lose his confidence or worst drop out from school… yes, I still have to encourage him all the way…
Thank you! ya! I believe he might be a black horse… and if any of your child is like mine… we pray hard too… I am sure they will do their best!!!
THANK YOU!!!
