All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

Hmm... not too sure... I just know that HPPS is restricting on its PV intake as it doesnt want disappointed PVs not getting a place during 2B. So now they only accept less than 30 PVs per batch I think...Hi there, was wondering :? . i am currently staying in Jurong West and I have applied to do a PV at Henry Park. So far havent heard from them but I know that they will be informing parents in October.
Are they going to consider the house distance as well when they shortlist you to do PV ? -

Hi chixchix!
Actually, even if the school doesn't consider the distance when it shortlist PV applicants, you should also do your sums. Are you willing to \"swallow\" it if your child is balloted out of the school despite you having spent hours performing PV work? There is always this possibility.
So, perhaps you should have a backup plan. -
Interestingly, HPPS never had to ballot in Phase 2B for past few years - although things could change overnight.

I don't think HPPS is the type where you did PV & have no chance to get into in Phase 2B.
Just wait for your call from HPPS if been selected for interview. -

I've also submitted my application for PV for Henry Park. Haven't heard from them. Can I check, how did you know that they'll inform parents in October? Thanks in advance. -
Hii, I think its the lady who you send the PV form to, I cant remember her name, but i had to email her twice before I heard from her. She told me that shortlisted parents will be informed in October.
Referring to the top posts, I am wondering whether its true that even if you PV at HPPS, you may not get a place for your child there. -

Looking at the balloting history, only 2006 required balloting in P2B. But that was the dragon year.
Hence, in a way, you are safe if you qualify to register in P2B. However, things can always change. -

Actually, the numbers in the balloting history include grassroot leaders. Perhaps the sentence should be re-phrased as \"unless have 0.01% of sudden surge in the number of Grassroot members\".
Perhaps HPPS does control the number of intake for PV. It is better than to accept many PVs (like what one of the schools in Jurong did), only to disappoint some parents who had performed PV work. -
