Did you oil the pan first? You pour a lot of oil on it, then you heat it up... and cool it down and heat it up and cool it down. This will leave a patina of oil. Try not to wash with soap to get rid of this patina. It is what makes it non-stick and also protects it from rust.
is it just do it for 1st time? after that, it will be always be non-stick?

      Thanks.

Do watch out for the cut out coupon sales at Isetan for LC. You might see a 60-70% off. I got my 18cm saucepan at $99 and 25cm french oven at $189.
I'm still very tempted to get another bigger pot but I always use this % discount to sway me away as there is no end to my wants of LC pots. I think it is ok to stop at 2 :boogie:
:slapshead: :slapshead: adoi!! how come I miss out on this good bargain, even tho I am an Isetan card member.

If u come across any similar lobang from Istean, let me know okie? :please:

Should you do this for grill pans too?

I do this for all my cast iron cookware... of which I have 2 - the cast iron wok and the LC. I know it sounds icky never to wash with soap, but I reckon it's ok 'cos these pots go through high heat to cook food. They get sterilised at every use... and I don't have a rust problem as long as the patina of oil coats every part of the cookware.[/quote]Thanks Chenonceau. So how do you wash it after cooking? Just rinse with water?

As long as the patina is robust, then it will be non-stick. If there is sticking, you can put a bowl of water and switch on some gentle heat, then use a wooden spatula to gently remove the debris.

Yup... the LC has an enamel coating that I dun wanna scratch so I use a soft sponge. I actually use a metal scrub on the wok which is solid cast iron.

That bargain was in 2010 I think. I went super early, queue and went straight to the LC counter, take and go. The ppl there were literally snatching away. Maybe that time you still deciding whether to buy or not. :?

When I see this again, I'll let you know.

Lucky you having a human dishwasher.

You don't wash the LC pot with soap? How to \"tahan\"? I do get the rust issue on the rim of the pot. Btw, how to get rid of discolouration on the enamel inside the pot?

Get LC cleaner. Use a dry cloth and rub in a circular motion and later wash off.

I've bought and tried but to no avail. Perhaps I must have burnt it quite badly. :stupid:

I just bought the enamel coated cast iron frying pan at a steal from Isetan and regretted it somehow. For some reason, the stirfries and omelets keep getting stuck to the pan. Putting more oil before frying doesn't help. Can anyone advise?

wow, I didn't know that. May I ask what kind of oil is best? and do you use a new batch of oil each time you heal/cool? & how many times do you repeat this procedure?

how do you wash an oily frying pan without soap? :scratchhead:

unfortunately I've scrubbed it a little and now there are 'shadows' of leftover omelettes on the surface that I haven't been able to get rid of :slapshead:
