We stopped attending the lessons after 9 months, but I read up on books published by Shichida (can get Chinese versions for less than S$10 from Maha Yuyi). I do agree on the following:
1) Requires much parental involvement and commitment as 1 lesson a week is not enough.
2) All kids are different, and possess different talents & abilities, and through the course, parents can identify the areas of talents/genius and to bring out the \"innate potential\" in your child, and possibly help your child develop further in that area.
3) The cost fees are over-priced and lessons are not flexible to accommodate MCs, so once you get a hang of it all, you can practice at home and look out for relevant materials that can help you accomplish this. Some of the materials suggested by KSP forums are genuinely good!
4) Once you stop attending the course, it is very easy for you to slack and stop practicing the activities at home. If you can afford and have helper, and your kid enjoys the class activities, I suggest you carry on with the course. Takes a lot of discipline and commitment (and energy) to carry on diligently at home. Also better to have buddies to exchange tips and keep motivated.
5) Your child's teacher makes a BIG difference, if not all the difference! My child's teacher did not ask for the energy ball to be shoved into my mouth! My son used to refuse the energy ball activity, thinking it is silly (he's a little old man by nature). But recently when we did flashcards, he actually proposed to do the energy ball
I have become discrimating in the activities I choose because some takes too much time to prepare (dots cards). I try to find time to practice the following because I personally find them effective and my kids enjoy them.
- flashcards
- memory games (linking/photographic/mandala/matching cards etc.)
I find these activities are less academic and boosts overall learning abilities (hopefully can save $$ from tuition fees next time!)
As for the poem thingy - I didn't ask the purpose of it, but took it as another memory training for my kid. Some parents drew pictures to help their kids, which I did too at first, but didn't work out. Following how Professor Shichida learned English, I got my son to recite the poem again and again. He managed to remember the poem within a week. That's the same method I eventually adopted for his multiplication table, and he'd grasp the entire 1 to 9 multiplication (didn't follow what SM taught in class) within a month - not without some hard drilling  -
Hi Concern2,
Glad you manage to find your \"niche\" in developing your children learning abilities.. I still trying to find the right ways and more importantly time. Always so much to do but so little time. BTW, my son find it weird with energy ball thingy but he did not reject. All he did was to do it in double quick time. Most of time the \"energy ball\", end up smacking my face  because of his urgency to get it done and over with. -

Hi all,
I sent my 1st DD to SM for almost a year now and I see a few differences in my child. She acts and thinks very differently from other children. She can grasp concepts after one or two times of introduction. However, I am pulling her out at the end of the year because of what I did to my 2nd DD.
I introduced the SM flashcards to my 2nd DD when she was 3 months and I was not expecting her to respond to it at all. SHe refused to see the cards but I still flashed the cards to her. Now at 10 months, my 2nd DD can vocalise what she wants, she can immediately grasp most concept I introduce to her and she is now learning phonics with my 1st DD.
So I derived from my experiences that SM is good introduced at an early age by the PARENTS. I didn't need to send her to SM to see the extreme progress my DD has made.
I admit the SM program is good but only if Parents are involved. I will still continue the doing SM on my own after pulling my 1st DD out because i feel it still benefits my DDs. But I'm not going to spend anymore money for something that affects my children most when I can do it for free.... -
Err. I thought we have to sit behind them directly. BTW, forgot to mention that the chair is a tad too small for my big butt.

Hi Mummies with Shicida,
Do you think the part about energy balls, esp etc is useful when they start their primary school?
Is it some skills which u have to constantly practise if not, the skills will be lost?
My relatives’ kids are all with Shicida and they all claim that their kids improved alot.
The fees is not cheap, and its a big committment…
Coz i heard tat need at least 3 yrs to see the full effect.
Hope to get some reassurance here.
Thanks.
I’m considering LNT also.
Any feedbacks? -
I think energy ball is like a relaxation technique, the energy ball is just for fun, the relaxation techniques is breathing in and out.
The useful part are more on love of learning and memory bah. -
Hi,
I am interested to send my boy for Shicida training too. He is 4.5 yrs old…Not too sure if this is the right time…I noticed from the testimonial from parents on Shicida that most of the children attended at least 4 yrs and above. It sure looks like a long-term investment to me…
Can anyone share how long does it takes for a child that attended Shicida produce results ? Does the child’s mind are more analytical or they could "think out of the box" ? The Sichida sales video sure looks impressive but am wondering how long does it takes to show results…
