All About Parent Volunteers (PV)
-
Hi to all,
I am a newbie in this forum and is now very anxious about my son’s P1 registration in Yr 2010 (he’s born in 2004 and will be P1 in 2011).
After reading all the efforts that parents have put in for their kids’ P1 registration, I am now even more anxious as I have not started on anything… except looking around for properties that are within 1km of some schools that I have shortlisted.
I am keen to send my son to ACSJ or Henry Park. Have seen somewhere in this forum that ACS does not accept PV. Does this apply to ACSJ too?
Also, does anyone know the application date for Henry Park’s PV… if they do accept PV after all?
Please enlighten. Thank you very much! -

hi janice,
good to hear that you got called for St Hilda’s PV.
Does any one know whether we can check with schools regarding the number of seats taken up for Phase 2A1 and 2A2. We know this figure much in advance we can roughly calculate the number of seats available for Phase 2B. Will school share this information much beforer P1 registration.
Any inputs on this? -
What if I had missed PV application period?Just wonder the school will entertain appeal cases?

For phase 1, the school will roughly know by how many of their current students have siblings registering. For phase 2A1 they will probably know the number too. But for phase 2A2 it will be difficult as I dont think any school keeps track of how many kids their old boys or old girls have, which year they are borned in, and how many actually want to register their kids in the school! So no way to know before the P1 registration. -

I doubt so, especially if it's a popular school. Number of PV applicants usually exceed the number required. -
janice_0950:
janice_0950, even though your PV requirement may be from Jan-Nov 2009, you should check if you will be able to complete your requirements (usually 40 hours) in time for the 2009 registration starting in July next year. Otherwise, you may not qualify for Phase 2B....It is NOT TOO late. and i just got an interviewed by Head Mgmt of Parent Volunteer.

Didn't know you could \"pay\" to get into clan/mission school in the pretext of donation. My colleague told me ACS you can do so.. wonder how much... but also scared lah in Sgp... get caught by authorities.. both parent & child suffer!! ;o( -

I think you are mistaking proper, above-board donations to Government-assisted schools versus an outright bribe to school officials. Anyone can donate money to these schools to support their activities, but to expect the school to reciprocate by giving you a place, the donation will have to be quite substantial. We're not talking about a few thousands here. Essentially, if you have a school facility named after you (because you paid for it), it would be hard to deny you a place in the school, wouldn't it?
