      Hi mummies,

Thanks for all info. I will try to get the books from popular. Just received her P5 SA2 results yesterday. Overall 340/400. Her weak subject is English esp in Grammer and Comprehension close. any subjection to improve this area? will tuition helps?

        Hi skss!

Thanks. My son will be P4 next year.Do u send ur son tution? Now I like to send creative writing for EL.But I hesitate to send Sci and Maths. What's ur opinion? Thanks
I have a P4 DD next year too. I do not send her for tuition except Chinese to Berries. My intent is for 1 to 1 tuition starting P5. Cause I feel my DS results start to crash (from 80s to 60s) in P5. Was told P5 is the year the school has to complete many topics in 1 yr (to keep P6 mid year onwards for PSLE revision). So it's very stressful and they need assistance.

          Hi skss!

I heard that there is an audio Cd to practise for listening (EL)?May I know the title (If u know)? Thanks
for listening compre, it's the easiest to score. I would expect them to get full marks for this (normally they are short of 1 or 2 marks). There are several that I bought also from Popular. need to go find.

            Hi skss/Leanne,

Your input is valuable...keep them coming ok ?

My so has 1-1 for Math. That subject, hubby and I hands off. For science, lots of practice required...totally agree. I am drilling him in MCQ section.
As for Synthesis, Editing, Cloze, it's all about practice and perfecting. Comprehension cloze/OE are tough areas though. Chinese oral must memorize some good answers for pic discussion.

This year for science, Rgps and ACS sa2 have answer keys which are very helpful.
Synthesis is a 10marks section. Totally agree with you it's about practise. Bought books for my son to focus on practising. When he was p4, he got only 2 marks. Made him practise till now he could get full marks for this most of the time.
I personally find the Teachers@work series of books on target sections of English very good. Cloze passage is so difficult to get full marks. my ds is always getting either 9 or at most 12 upon 15 even after many practising. so...

On top of these, I feel that do not stress your kids too early... It's a bell curve too. I let my DS take CA1 without muching stressing on him (as it is not added to overall marks). When his marks come down (sure to come down as he's v playful in Feb/Mar period), then i pushed him a bit in SA1. From June onwards, I pushed him real hard. If you push too early, their energy level is very high afterwards, it will drop(cos they get sick and tired of always studying... of course during the intensive grilling :pokeeye: , I treat him to his favourite foods and fruits). So, try to catch the high energy level for prelim.

Thank you all kind moms and dads for your contributions. Not sure if I’m the only mom that got this - when you talk to them, it’s like their ear side wind (er bian feng). I asked him to reflect on his attitude, which areas he sees he can avoid and improve, etc. His tears swelled and nodded his head (heart pained). Then after a while, back to square peg. So, this holiday he will be really grounded - no game console, no facebook, no USS, he will be with MIL while we go for short trip etc.

One hand I want him to think hard and learn to be independent, on the other hand, I felt it was too much to ask from a 11yr boy. Of cos I dun tell him that.

If you compare our parents’ generation and us, no wonder they can have 4 or more. My parents only concerned about blue and red markings, so innocent, right.

I hope I have the spirit and strength to see my boy and girl in PSLE 2012 and 2013.

                Kan Bei ! (cheers)

Unless your child is so lazy and no determination, does not even care PSLE, you will need to worry. I started to be lazy but as PSLE is coming, I personally bought synthesis book and comprehension close book and in the end complete all the assignments. 😓 :moneyflies:

Good luck to all 2000' batch of Singaporeans @PSLE next year~

I planned a schedule for Nov/Dec. Not following it very faithfully...using a little reverse psychology on him now...Let him play all day to see if he gets guilty when I keep quiet.

Was about to ask you when is the right time to push...not too early in case burnt out (real battle is in Oct). So June is a good time to do so ? I have absolutely no idea how to plan. :imdrowning: :?:
