We are appealing becos of ds's WL fr DSA and he is in GEP. Since we have gone so in the dsa journey just want to complete the last possible step. We are thinking of doing so for NUSH and NJC too. Jusst want to have closure for the near 5 months of DSA process.

I guess in a way, you have a \"happy\" problem. Those of us who have no choices just accept.

That's why you have the GAT and HAST tests during DSA. Its something totally different from PSLE.

The scholarship for GE students is on conditions that they clear the GE exams including 70 and above for social studies and qualify for GE at an independent school. Its not on s same terms as EESIS.
Yes, that's why those who did well for HAST in ACSI gets to do the IB directly (is it still the same now?), my son took it in 2006 so I might be outdated, while other DSA go to the O level route. Different from PSLE. I don't know much about GAT. The HAST tests reasoning skills, not studying skills. Some things are way beyond what they study but a kid who is 'smart' (not just well schooled) can 'catch it' and answer correctly, way beyond their age.

I guess GEP test does that too. I have never seen a GEP test, I am only guessing. My son describes it a bit, I only guess through his description.

Ok, but I have add this. I feel that the GEPers culture is not very healthy in Singapore. The system is over protective of this group and I believe they are better off learning to fight a bit. If the system wants to do something special for the GEPers, then do it all the way, why the PSLE for all and then special treatment. Confuses. If all must take PSLE, then everyone should use that as baseline, and then GEPer or not, same conditions should apply. I find this just kinda misleading and not everyone can swallow this double-standard treatment.

Hi parents, can anyone clear my doubt?

          4 Children:
          A: 256+3 (259)
          B: 257+2 (259)
          šŸ˜„ 258+1 (259)
          😧 259

Who has the greatest chance to enter SAP school like nygh/hci/dhs? If the answer is D, then what is hcl advantage participatedin the S1posting?

          Thank you!

There was a discussion about this last year. I think the answer we came to then was D. Don't ask me for the reason. Maybe someone else can enlighten you.

Thank you jtoh. This is what I heard from others as well. However, for my understanding, in this situation, 4 children have the same score so have to look at the decimal place when apply SAP school.

HAST got different levels. Njc used middle secondary level not sure about ACSI. Heard stories that RI and VS used lots of similar questions for GAT. However RI allows 20 minutes for 60 questions but VS allocates 1 hour

Why can't RI open up more classes and accept all GEPpers instead ? I know there are some with GEPpers with low T score, but that is not what they are look at in the first place rite ? Otherwise, no need to identify GEP rite ?
Boys generally mature later and these kids might be doing very well later on as they mature.

Why only GEPpers who should have this priority - just becos they are identified at P3 level? In this case, all parents should go drill their kids for GEP (afterall no need to worry about T-score or sec sch thereafter). Your same arguement of later maturity can be applied to mainstreamers as well.....so RI has to open more classes to cater to whole of Singapore kids??

And why must it only be RI? Singapore has so many schools, and RI is not
the only school who can groom your kid!

Come on, 别钻ē‰›č§’å°–. There are lots of good schools out there. Have you consider that your GEP kid may probably fare better in a different
environment as compared with the competition he will face in RI???

I have administered the HAST at high school before, I found the questions totally fun and no skills are required. The timing is always sufficient and strict, and everyone should be able to finish. The ones who 'get it' get it immediately, those who cannot, cannot lor. We are supposed to find out the capabilities of a child through such tests, never about how fast they can write. HAST is not developed in Singapore, only Singaporeans develop tests to test how bad our kids are, others develop tests to test how GOOD the kids are.

Hcl can be used for extra points for SAP schools. What advantage does one gain by taking other higher MT papers ?
