Qn. So you believe that my idea is workable, _________?
1) do you
2) don’t it
3) don’t you
4) doesn’t it
[dd chooses (3) and I thought it is correct, answer key is (1)]
Thanks. -
Another qn (editing)
As soon as Andric realised that he had been tied upside down to a wooden pole, he heard a man shouted, \"Here comes the suckling pig to be roasted for Princess Sheau Wei!\"
Is the answer shout or shouting? Or are both acceptable?
Thanks again. -

Dear lizawa,
Thank you so much your replies :hugs:
Btw, for the editing, the answer in the ans key is shouting. My dd wrote shout. I thought both are viable. Sometimes, it is so confusing ... :? -
Actually, I think both answers should be acceptable as heard is one of the five senses.

I looked at the question again. If the sentence doesn't end with dialogue, I am sure the answer is \"shout\". Now you say the answer key says \"shouting\", maybe \"shouting\" is the correct one.
We normally use the infinitive without the \"to\" after verbs like make, see, hear. But in this case, a dialogue follows. I did a search on the Internet. Maybe this clarifies.
Shout is used when it is a one time action and shouting used when it is a continuos action. In this case, perhaps that dialogue is there to show a continuos action, and so answer is shouting. -

If you reverse the order, the meaning is clear. \"he\" means John.Hi everyone
I have a question that's bugging me no end... Would really appreciate help on this.
Which is correct?
a. When he had finished eating, John got up from the table.
b. When John had finished eating, he got up from the table.
I always thought (a) is more accurate since the first part of the sentence is a subordinate clause and the pronoun here (he) refers to the antecedent noun, John. But I was told by a school teacher, as well as my p5 nephew, that this is not the correct answer. Help!
MTIA!
John got up from the table when he had finished eating.
But in (a), there is ambiguity as in who the \"he\" may be. It may refer to another guy. Hence (b) is correct. -
Can anyone help to answer these English questions? My answers are 1 and 4 respectively but I’m not sure about them:

4. were

2. a…an
3. an…a
