Finally DS completed P3 & P4 Science topics. Moving on to P5. Hopefully we can complete!
Wow, done already ? We are in the midst of both...alternating between lower and upper block.
Just my humble suggestion
Interaction is a vast topic. It links up with all the p3 and p4 stuff in diversity. Lot of facts and interlinking them.
My 2 cents would be take some time to read thru (atleast like a pre reading) during the hols - so that when the lessons start it is easier to connect.
I had totally underestimated this topic and my this is lesson learnt.
Totally right...I agree with you. Thanks for the tip
Topics like environment is related to diversity & life cycles. As I'm filling in some answers in an assessment book, I realize there are similarities going back to P3 and P4. Types of 'forces' is somewhat related to P4 too because it involves magnetic force. Quite interesting. -
Next year’s PSLE will be very competitive…Y2K kids and worry about school vacancies…guess it’s natural to be sucked in with so much pressure.
As parents, we do hope our kids can perform their best and get into choice sec schools…however, I have to be realistic about my son’s abilities. Like what a grandfather mentioned in ST forum recently, he is very contended with his grandson’s 4As. What we really want is to see our children putting in their best effort for the PSLE. It’s not easy to get 4As based on the high educational standards today. I would have flunked badly if I were to do my PSLE again. -

Hi, my DS has a friend whose father did not work to look after her only daughter while the mother become the breadwinner. The daughter as far as I know did not have any tuition this year but has only English enrichment since kindergarten till p2. The daughter got first in the whole school in p2 and also in the first three position in p3 in the best class this year. So I believe that if you stay at home to coach her yourself starting now will mean a lot to her.
As PSLE result is very important in deciding which secondary school she will be landed in. So I'll definitely advise you to give up your job for at least a year. Of course, it also depends on your financial situation. As I know that the living costs are getting higher and higher. Sometimes, as parents, we need to sacrifice. Its only once in a life time that our child go through PSLE when they're 12 years old.
I believe there is still hope if you start doing something now. But don't panic and instead focus on planning a study schedule with your daughter and start implementing it.
All the best! Fighting, see so many ksparents are supporting you here!!! :rahrah:
Actually if it is purely for results, it does not make $$ sense for that parent. A parent's average earning is at least $48k a year and sending even to the most expensive tuition is only about $12-13k for all subjects. However, if the value is more than results, then yes by all means be SAHP to enjoy your child. -
I m in cold sweat reading some parents have started the p6 revision with their kids already… I can’t touch my DS until 2 weeks b4 school opens. He told me he needs a well deserved rest before "cheonging" for next year ! Sigh…

Really appreciate your advice. DS is good at P3&P4 but weak in P5 so going to revise deeply for P5 topics now. -

Hi, may I ask how do you touch on p3 and p4 science? Which guide book or assessment did you use? Still not sure how to start and revise.
DS has quite a number of guide books, Marshall Cavendish is good. And got for him Ultimate PSLE guide book by EPH. He normally reads through each topic and write notes/mind map. Then try out the topic assessment. Hopefully we are doing the right way.
Anyone, care to share your way of revising. Thanks. -
Hi all,
Just want to find out how do your children revise science? Do you just go through the school notes and science textbooks or do you get your children to read the many-pages-per-topic science guide as well? I used to get my dd to read the science guides but have stopped doing that in P5. I stopped doing it becos I realise that the testing of knowledge forms a very small percentage of the science exam and the main objectives to test on other skills such as classifying, comparing, inferring, etc. So I get her to do more worksheets and we focus on her answering techniques instead. Just wondering is this the right method. Dd is happier cos she is not motivated to read the science guide. Thanks very much! -
