Yes in the east. Sending DD to school is not practical for us. Whole family comes along. DS in K1 at Kovan a d work place is at Alexandra. Need to go up then down again and up.

Anyway DD got used to it...
Poor girl! What time does she sleep at night? I hope she gets some sleep on the bus too.

What level is your dd in now? What happens in the afternoon when she has CCA and other activities? As they go higher, they have more than CCAs. My dd is in P5 this year and she stayed back for 3-4 afternoons. Next year P6 with compulsory supplementary classes, it is worse. ๐Ÿ˜ž I have promised her that I will try to fetch her from school everyday so that she can get home earlier to rest before she does her homework. All her afternoons will be occupied from January to April 2012 until SYF is over. ๐Ÿ˜ž

I understand school starts at 7.25am. May I know what time the girls must reach school before they get booked by the prefects for tardiness? Thanks.

Accordingly to my girl, prefects will be on duty by 7.15 am and booking starts after the national anthem is completed. The national anthem starts at about 7.20 am thereabout.

Think most girls will be in the hall, doing their silent reading by 7.10 am.

Things are better in the last 1-2 years. I think the school gave pressure to the bus operators for them to provide bus after CCAs in the last 2 years. Before that, very few operators provided CCA bus services due to low demand. Even for the last 1-2 years, the demand was low. On an average day, there are not more than 3 girls on the Jurong-bound bus. I have to pay $10 per trip for that return journey.

CCA buses will usually leave around 3.15 pm (on non-extended days) or 3.45 pm (on extended days). The school arrange for the CCAs, remedial and supplementary classes to end at 3.15 pm or 3.45 pm. There is only one time slot for CCA buses but I know some schools provide a second time slot at 5 plus 6 pm.

Enrichment classes and other activities such as rehearsals, school team trainings, prefect meetings, competition trainings, etc will not end at 3.15 pm or 3.45 pm. On those days, parents have to arrange for own transport.

When my dd was in P1 - 2, she was in having dance enrichment classes. I would come in a cab to pick her up. This prompt me to relearn driving and i started driving to fetch her when she was in P2 and P3. Even for now, I have to pick her whenever she ends at 5 pm.

It's good that they have buses back home after 3+pm activities. As for activities that end at 5pm, I'll have problem then cos I knock off at 6pm. ๐Ÿ˜ข

I suggest you could try to befriend the other SCGS moms. I see many people car pool to send their kids home. While I stay in Jurong West, I have also sent some of my dd's friends to Choa Chu Kang and Jurong East.

There are other alternatives such as train the girl to take public transport, to book a regular taxi, get a relative to pick or ask the girl to wait in school. The last option would mean the girl would feel hungry as the canteen is usually closed by 3-4 plus.
