It could be a food allergy.
Sian...we don't have any family history of eczema before, don't know why it happens to my boy. -
Hi, My son has eczema issue as well. Went to NSC, I gave up after 2nd visit due to poor Dr’s coordination. 1st visit, I asked if my son could b allergy to any food. As I noticed one he eat, peanut butter, he tend to hv rash near his lips…
1st visit, the jr Dr with confirmation from a snr consultant, that should not do food allergy test as this will deprive my son fr tasting other food. They said tt I could cont to feed him any food & they will treat him externally w steroid cream.
2nd visit, consulted another Dr (dun get to c same dr) - this one was a Snr consultant herself, told me that I MUST get my son to do a food allergy test. She asked me if I knw that my son could hv been chocked to death by eating peanuts. The steroid cream given by the earlier Dr was WRONG. if she’s the examiner, she would hv FAILED the earlier dr…

Hi,
Anybody have any good doctor or any good medicine for Eczema problem?

Hi! I actually recalled us parents discussing this before but strangely, manual and engine searches couldn't find me the thread. If I can find that thread, it'll be very helpful as they were many informative posts.
Chief, does this board have some auto-delete/auto-hide function for threads past a certain \"age\"? Or is the listing of threads and search engine being buggy? :? -

Yes. I noticed there were 4 pages threads under HEALTH topic initially. However after 13 Sept, it became 2 pages only. Weird la... :? Or was it due to 'housekeeping'??Hi! It's not due to housekeeping. It's due to... dunno what. We need some technical expertise here. Time to call in our heavy artillery. -

Sea-water? Possible for its anti-septic property. I have very dry skin and the skin on my lower legs can get kind of flaky. Nowadays, I bathe with sea salt soap made from the Dead Sea. Once it was more serious, I used the sea salt soap that has sulphur added. Very effective for me. But I think it is not a cure all, more sort of like preserving the skin from further eruption. I gave a few pieces to a few kids in my centre who have this problem and it works quite well. Give it a try.My girl has eczema on her hands which is worsened when she uses the wrong type of soap. Only mild cleanser for her.
And it was worsened in her Primary school years when she was eating her favorite fake sharks' fin soup in the canteen.
Her problem disappeared for a while when she joined the sailing team. Could be the sea water?

Not sure about sea water, but UV from sunlight is definitely documented as "light therapy" for eczema. So I guess sailing must have given her a fair share of that.
Eczema has to do (more often than not) with skin allergy. Not so much of anit-septic but rather the "steroid" type of medication is widely used to contain the outbreak.
Our son had eczema when he was much younger, and we consulted couple of doctors and finally ended up in National Skin Center. We also learnt that most children will grow out of it, and the allergies can/may manifest through other forms as they grow i.e asthma or conjunctivitis. True enough, our son has seemingly grown out of it now (he’s 4.5 yrs old).
