According to DS1, what the culprit did was to clone ATM cards using their machine when a purchase is made. This method was used long ago. The info from your card is captured and transferred and used in another card. You need not travel to Malaysia or any part of the world, just use your card to make a purchase. I remember when the first case came about years ago, the precaution given was to made sure that you don’t let your card out of sight during purchase. They can just swipe your card and retain info in seconds. DS1 was so worried that he called his GF to check his account while he was on duty today. He even called me and urged me to check my account. I didn’t know it was this serious until the news stated that there were about 200 people affected.

long queue at ATM passbook update expected. This morning I saw 1 long queue of 18 people at the POSB near my place. It will get more exasperating
bec the machines always break down, just like today when only 1 is working.
:snooze: -
i managed to log in to DBS IB ard 1230am this morning... i hurriedly print out my latest balance & transaction records... did a check too... it tallied with what the customer service officer told me earlier when i called their hotline... :boogie:
but to play save... better try to do a check once a day? -
Another lapse to \"spice\" up our day. It's a mind- boggling question how such a security breach is possible? Following this was the hacking into NUS IT system. What's next? :?

Medicorp news now say over 2700 accounts affected.
Scary. -
Source/culprit has been traced to 2 ATMs at Bugis area.
If you had used ATMs at Bugis Area last November better go and check your balance.
If never use should be OK. -
Not sure how the passwords were breached, but I usually cover the keypad when I key. Just in case.
-
Maybe it will be a good habit to change ATM pins often like once a month or every few weeks.

saw long queue at posb atm machines…i checked mine also…ok.
