French lesson starts this afternoon.
For those whose child will go to MOE Newton center for French, can try the following transportation if no school bus:
1. EW line MRT boonlay -> buona vista (14min)
2. transfer to circle line, -> botanic gardens (7min)
3. go to dunern road bus stop (opp botanic gardens), take bus 171
4. alight at Environment Building (next to Newton MRT stop) -

I am worried about the inflexibility.
We have big dictionaries at home. Dd brought one to show her teacher. -

Dd, together with her classmate, will be taking a bus from RV to Boon Lay mrt (about 5 min), take mrt from Boon Lay to Newton (< 45 min) and then walk to the Language centre.French lesson starts this afternoon.

The oxford advanced dictionary has it too. I had purchased that specifically when I did a module in phonetics 2 years ago. My DS brought it along to show his teacher but was told it wasn't acceptable. I intend to email his teacher to enquire the reason for the insistence for longman.Belle2011:

I will check with dd when she is back tonight on her showing of our BIG dictionary to her teacher.
Dictionaries are reference materials and teachers should not insist on a particular kind/type.
If RV is to follow the University's style, then the books listed in the book list should be called as reference books/materials.
Math notes are given which means the math textbook is optional? -
My math teacher requires the textbook.
