Have, my family. Definitely at least 2 tables of MJ at each family gathering over the CNY. Our family visiting is more like, everyone gather at relative 1’s hse and stay there the entire day. Next day, everyone who were present at relative 1’s hse will go to relative 2’s hse and again stay there the entire day, and so forth. Each uncle or aunty will take turns to host the gathering over the whole 15 days of CNY. And mahjong is the entertainment for the day. haha

Talking abt higher price of food… not sure if anyone here is aware that the seafood that you paid higher price for at wet market may not be really that fresh…

About few mths b4 CNY, the wholesaler will stock up the seafood and not release to the market… then just b4 CNY they release and make a killing… this is what I heard… hence, few mths b4 CNY you will find that the seafood getting lesser and some even no stock…

Yes, definitely. Looking forward to the annual spring cleaning, though stress but still i think it is good… haha… force me to clear some of the old and unwanted stuff… actually prefer the days leading to CNY… like now… esp…listening to the old CNY songs played by the radio stations.

Don’t mind the visiting too since i dont have many relatives to visit. Though we see some of the relatives only during CNY but it is good to see them, to know that everyone is healthy, especially the older folks.

              More like than don’t like.

I dread the spring cleaning but after each session, the sense of achievement hits some highs.

I dread the shopping with all the big crowds and long queues but I love looking at my family and relatives sharing the goodies.

I love the long weekend but am always worried if my boss would approve my leave.

My kids love CNY when they can see all their uncles, aunties and cousins. They look forward to playing with new additions ie babies and toddlers. They are deprived because I refused to get the baby toy from Toys R Us.

Yes, I don’t mind CNY despite all the cleaning and slaving around.

I envy people who come from closely knit family. CNY is really a "bonding and gathering" time. By right as Chinese we should look forward to CNY but sometimes there are a few factors beyond our control that will affect our attitude towards the festive season. I think it’s sad because how many years can we be in this world? also I realize if the parent do not like visiting this will become a learnt behavior. Very soon when they grow up, their children will also be influenced by this behavior.

Slowly you will find the family distanced themselves with every passing year.

Yes looking forward to reunion dinner whereby we will be having steamboat. Yummy.

It is also a time to gather and catch up in everyones life as we have been so busy the past year. Me and hubby was just saying that time passes so fast and we should cherish those who are dear to us and for those we dislike, learn to forgive and love.

A new year, a new beginning, hopefully we can all just forget the old grudges and move on.

                  Happy Chinese New Year everyone.

Not looking forward to CNY this year....

What is CNY when your status is a Widow..
People will avoid me ...as I am now considered as a unlucky person.....

Did not bother to buy anything for CNY....
Will hide at home , watch my TVB dramas/sleep :snooze: /eat....

But not to spolit everybodys mood, allow me to wish everyone:
                    祝大家在新的一年里和气致祥、身体健康、家庭康泰,万事如意! 新年快乐!万事如意!阖家幸福!

:hugs: :hugs: Don't let others' opinions affect you and I'm sure most people don't feel this way towards widow or widower. All of us have our problems but whatever they are let us forget about them for the time being and enjoy ourselves during CNY. Enjoy your freedom (look at it this way - you can now go and do what you like without considering whether your other half like it or not) and pamper yourself this CNY and others to come. HAPPY CNY!!!
