currently the whole class stays together for p1 and p2. so if separate after p1, after they get to make many friends already, must tikam who gets out ....
Hihi!!
Fur-Ma,
The school just auto place them in same class and even same house (Richardson). But I'll most likely separate them next year. Both of them are quite dependent on each other. Let them have one year of fun first. -
Hi zeemimi,
Does the school band in p1? I thought I heard it somewhere that Kuo Chuan streams the kids earlier in p1? -
mummy_ning:
they used to band the top 2 classes from P2 onwards. But i heard that they don't do it anymore. So if everything remains the same, our kids are likely to stay in the same P1 and P2 class.Hi zeemimi,

some kids who are not able to catch up are identified early in P1. But these usually have no formal schooling prior to P1 and constitute a minority. -

But for mother tongue,i remember receiving a circular stating that there r different modules for children who r stronger in MT to go for enrichment modules.for weaker students, they may b singled out to attend foundation modules. So tatz a form of streaming kids on a subject already...

However the class is still kept intact as a whole. They only separate during mother tongue lessons.
The streaming that was mentioned earlier was in the context of streaming all the kids into different classes based on their overall results. because i believe mummy_ning was hoping that her twins can be separated next year based on the assumption that there is some form of banding being done at the end of P1.
In the past for lower pri, (and also presently for the upper pri) the kids are streamed based on their English, Maths & Science (fr Pri 3 onwards) results. So there are students who are very weak in their Chinese but are still found in the top class because they excel in Eng / Math / Sci. -
