I am not sure about other parents but I find it is hard to coach my own children. They are too close to us. When I coach my boy spelling, I nearly vomit blood , he can take up to 4-5 hours to learn just 5 spelling words. I keep my cool and each time he improve his timing of learning spelling I praise him even 1 minutes of improvement. I find that it is very effective on my boy, each day he is improving.

I normally will let them copy from the Spelling list ( Read / Blend, Cover & Write). After 2 to 3 times of copying, normally they manage to spell most of the words correctly.

Totally agree with you, HH. I find this a very effective method to prepare for spelling

Meet the parent just over. The parents had given their value feedback. The school had heard us. We as parents sometimes have to learn to take thing easy. Now only Primary still have Secondary, JC n University to go still have so many years. I agreed with what the principal had said as long as my kid is progressing, that is good enough I am happy. I want my boy to enjoy the childhood and I want my boy to enjoy the school. I believe as long as my boy enjoy he will do well.

Hi hi if you still havent got any, try below methods:-

                        1. Wait outside the gates during dismissal time and start talking to some of those SAHM parents.

                        2. Try going to the school canteen on Tues/Fri CCA days approx 1.15pm. You will see a lot of parents/grandparents bringing homecook food for their kids. Go talk to them.

                        Good luck!
