      Dear all

      Would need help with these questions:

      A baker has some flour. He uses an equal amount of flour to bake cakes everyday. After 6 days, he has 3/5 of the flour left. After another 4 days,he has 15kg of flour left. How much flour did he have at first?

      Mary spent 1/4 of her money on shoes, 1/6 of the remainder on present and $45 on a blouse and had $80 left. How much money did she have at first?

      Thanks all!!
      Hi

      Q1.
      Total amount of flour at first --> 15 units
      2/5 used in 6 days --> 2/5 x 15 units = 6 units
      1 day --> 1 unit
      4 days --> 4 units
      Amount of flour left in the end --> 15 -6-4 units = 5 units
      5 units --> 15 kg, 1 unit --> 3 kg
      Amount of flour at first = 15 x 3 kg = 45 kg

      Q2.
      5/6 of remainder --> $45 + $ 80 = $ 125
      remainder --> 6/5 x $ 125 = $ 150 --> 3/4 of Mary's money at first
      Mary's money at first = 4/3 x $ 150 = $200

      cheers.

        Help :roll:

        Daniel has $160 more then Raja. If Daniel gives Raja 1/10 of his money, he will have 3 times as much money as Raja.

        A) how much money dose Raja have at 1st?
        B) express Raja's money as a fraction of Daniel's money

        Thanks

          Hi

          You may use MD.

          Before
          Daniel ------ 10 units + 160
          Raja ------ 10 units

          After
          Daniel ------ 9 units + 144
          Raja ------ 11 units + 16

          11 units + 16
          (x3)
          33 units + 48

          33 units + 48 --------- 9 units + 144

          24 units ------ 96
          1 unit ------- 4

          Raja ------ 10 units -------10*4 ------ 40

          Daniel ------ 10 units + 160 ------- 200

          Raja's money as a fraction of Daniel's money ------ 40/200 ------1/5

          Best wishes

              Thanks once again.

              May I know how did u derive 15 units? 🙂

              For the second question, I was able to solve with model but when I used the branching method, I could not. Would u be able to do it via that method?

              Thanks!!

              4/4 -- 1/4 shoes
              -- 3/4 remainder -- 1/6
              -- 5/6 5/6x3/4= 15/24

              15u --> 125?

                Hi

                2/5 of flour in 6 days --> 6/15 of flour in 6 days

                For Q2...

                15/24 of money ---> $ 125
                Total amount of money --> $ 125 / 15 x 24 = $ 200

                cheers.
