Hi, I’m looking for a piano teacher to teach my daughter, current 4 and a half year old. I've no piano at home. Willing to travel to teacher's house around Admiralty, Sembawang, Yishun, Woodlands.

Pls sms me at 964 two 919 three.

Our preference is weekday morning between 8 am to 12 noon or evening after 6pm.

        Thanks.
I saw this shop at second floor orchard tower that does renting of old piano. Maybe you can rent one. If your child enjoy piano, then buy one later.

Dear Dreamaurora, could you deliberate what is the main difference of Albert Tiu and Hecht’s students?

Broadly speaking, Albert tiu focuses on beautiful singing line whereas Thomas Hecht sounds more orchestral. Thomas approach is also more textbook and suited for large scale works whereas Albert tiu excel in shorter romantic works.

              Hi all,

I have zero music background. Just wondering - it’s ok to jump straight into 1-1 piano lessons? I am not feeling the pinch on money spent on the fees, but wouldn’t the child take a long time to pick up note reading and all?

My child does not seem musically inclined/talented. I am concern if he will be slower than normal, and then lose interest/confidence to persue.

Grading is not the most impt for me although I would be most proud if one day my child completes his grade 8 (anything beyond is akin to striking toto first prize). To me, grading is a way of proving one’s proficiency. But I would really hope my child be emotionally and spiritually enriched by being able to play a musical instrument. But the learning curve seems very steep.

Just turn 4. Took him to a music school today for a drum trial (I think he's more of a 'drum person' than 'pianist'). Drum teacher said 'come back in three months'. But the piano teacher seems very interested in getting me to sign my child.

Hi, I’m looking for a piano teacher to come to my place to teach my 7YO boy. We live in Sengkang. Weekdays afternoons preferred. Any recommendations? Btw what’s the rate like now? I had someone quote me $160 for 4 lessons a month but our schedules don’t gel.

So why didn't you arrange a trial lesson for piano for him? Maybe he'll like it? Observe how the teacher interacts? That's how I started mine on piano. He was not 3yo yet then, and I wasn't even looking for piano teacher(was looking for violin teacher). But the Trial lesson experience was positive.

It really depends on the qualification/ experience of the teacher. Since the teacher is coming to your place, $160 is reasonable. (i am assuming it is 45 mins lesson)
