Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)
-
Hi,
My kids have been with Molin. My girl only started in K2 and my boy at K1 (abit late as the recommended is nursery). It came highly recommended by my cousin who teaches chinese at my girl’s pre-school.
Saw some threads saying that Molin is academic. Yes they are but on the other hand, my kids enjoy going to Molin. They do play games in class and also for pre-school they do read those rhymes, songs, etc… and word recognition. But note that it’s not magic, only with parental support at home then can a child go further.
For my P1 girl, she is in SAP school hence doing higher chinese. Though she started Molin late (K2), she developed a liking for the language and did self-revision after the class. They had streaming during SA1 and she scored 96/100 hence she is now being streamed to the best chinese class in school. Also despite the growing demands eg composition, spelling, etc… from being in the best class, she appear to be able to cope well and I didn’t have to stand behind her back everytime to check on her homework. I am not saying that she is 100% chinese perfect as she does have her weakness eg the bi hua (just a slight stroke out, is wrong…) and also careless mistakes.
Yes, Molin has weekly spelling but it’s not as challenging as those my girl has in school. So she is usually well-prepared according to her for the spelling.
Seeing her development, I really swear by Molin and is glad that we put her there.
Probably the only disadvantage is they only have 1 centre so not so accessible like Berries, etc… -
Just want to add that, my girl has a school mate in her Molin class. With streaming, this girl is also in the best chinese class together with my girl in school right now. Hence, I think the std appears to be pretty consistent.
Haha, I hope my dear son won’t break the good record. -
after reading the threads, i’m abit confuse
our children age 3yrs and 4yrs old.
which school will suit them?
which teaching methods suits them?
i read that some prefers drilling, academic. in what aspects? writing? reading?
note: both girls are hyperactive.
ps: many questons, pardon me -
any feedback on Kumon Chinese? Is it just as good as their math and English?

Any parents have any feedback to share on courses offered by Yuquan?

I was contemplating placing my daughter in that course myself - didn't do so due to logistics problems. My P3 son has been in Yuquan since June. He took the \"intensive\" 成语 course which he enjoyed so much that we let him continue on a once per week basis.[Moderator's note: Topics merged.]

Hi
Any parents with primary school kids having Chinese enrichment at Molin Tuitorial Centre? Esp. with kids in upper primary, can you please provide some feedback on this centre - teaching method, teacher quality, flexibility (changing classes timeslot in case of need), course coverage, facililties, etc.
I am looking for a Chinese enrichment class for my boy (in P4 upper primary next year) in Katong / Parkway area. Saw this centre and wonder how effective they are, esp for upper primary kids taking Higher Chinese. Appreciate any sharing from any parents. Thanks -
My son has attended the class there for past 2 years. Very effective and learn more than the schools has been teaching. You should speak to the principal and you will understand more about the centre.
