        Hi parents! πŸ˜„

I'm a student of YTSS and i'm in the upper sec in year 2012! πŸ™‚
well after seeing that you all are kind of concerned about your child's CCA in my school, i'd like to give some suggestions πŸ™‚
i'm in choir and we've won the gold award for SYF 2011 in april! this is our 1st gold! we used to have silver for a couple of times and even COP but we're a gold choir now!

our UGs (uniformed groups), are good too! all of them won the gold award and they're hardworking from the way i see it everytime before CCA starts! though training may be difficult and tiring as you have to be under the sun quite a bit but i'm sure they do benefit! (if you'd like me to elaborate more on a certain CCA you're curious about pls let me know through this forum!)

for the sports group, their training is rather vigorous..i heard they have trainings quite often but they are pretty good as well! we have basketball girls and volleyball guys and table tennis! almost every friday i'll see sports ppl getting trophies or winning some competitions or sth like that!

last but DEFINITELY not the least, we have the aesthetics (band, choir, chinese dance, drama). Band they won silver again this year but they've worked really hard! and they are really bonded too! Their members are friendly! For chinese dance they've won quite a few gold with honours awards for years and they're good! for drama, they've won silver..i've not much to say about them, sorry! However, for choir and band and maybe even chinese dance, we have coporal punishments like pumpings like the uniformed groups which is quite rare πŸ˜› and sometimes students may..uhm tear 😞
but i'm saying this not to ask your child to join aesthetics! we've really a lot of chances for your child to prove what they're good at! hmm for my CCA we've got a lot of performances really quite a bit so it's exposure, it's good experience too!

sorry if i typed too long really have a lot to say and i have one more to go: clubs and societies! and i'd like to say a little about my school in terms of daily school life! πŸ™‚
        thanks! πŸ˜„

this is about my school's clubs and societies:

          1. Including: Chess, Photography, Green club and infocomm!

          2. Chess: They're quite pro at it! my friend's in there and they have a lot of competitions, particularly in the beginning of the year..and they're quite experienced in chess!

          3. Photography: Well it's quite a small group..they are sent to competitions and stuff but nothing much, not like the JCs photography who travel everywhere to take photos haha!

          4. Green club: they manage our school's roof top garden!

          6. Infocomm: they do the normal stuff about infocomm lor..and they control the mike during morning assembly so they've got quite a big role during morning assembly!

now i'd like to talk about my school generally:

          1. my school has a great environment. the classroom facing the road is very big!! and they have a lot of benches for students to study..

          2. the architecture is quite complicated at first eg: you have to take a specific staircase to this side of the staff room but it's quite..cool in a sense!

          3. our principal really cares! esp our previous principal he's so nice! πŸ˜„ but he went to nan chiau high 😞

          okay i think that's it cheers~! πŸ˜„

i hope to see your child in YTSS! πŸ™‚

What are the possible chances that my DS can get into the normal academic stream instead of express for YTSS?

                  PSLEmom:
We too attended the Open house on Saturday. We also had opportunity to mix with rest of the Sec 1 aspirants ;> I was surprised to see students & their parents from most of the Primary schools in the North. I was very impressed with the CCAs. Yishun Town seems to be No1 among the secondary schools @ North.

For CCAs both students from Express, Normal & Normal (technical) all would be grouped together. There has been previous incidents of \"ragging\" & bullying....My main worry is about safety of our children.
well,my frens' children are in yishun town and this school is really very good, u need not really worry about the school's ability to teach your children, if ur children does the appropriate things when met with bullying incidents, there would not be a problem!

Hi Prawnie… when did your ex-Principal leave? And how long has your new Principal been around? Lastly, which school was your new Principal leading previously?

                    Do you happen to know?

                      Hello! πŸ™‚

I'm in secondary 3 now, and life is rather stressed up for me but i guess it's typical.
uhm my current principal is Mrs Tan Chuen Yin and she joined us in the beginning of last year if i'm not wrong. my ex principal went to Nan Chiau high, and my current principal used to be from Chung Cheng High (main)!
Oh, it's true that sec ones don't have mid years. When i was in sec 1 my english wasn't that good too but it slowly improved. For geography, just make sure that the content is there! For history, the content is also important, but more important is the skills to tackle the qns. We need to know the explanation what leads to what and so on, it'll be easier!
can't say much, because i'm in upper sec i can't remember what i did last year! 😞 sorry!
                      cheers!
