My DD is currently in K1 going K2 and next year is the registration time. I'm also considering whether to put her in RV (follow her 2 brothers), or in CHIJ Kellocks for an all-girl missionary education environment.
Hi Puffer!
So you haven't decided on the school for your dd? It will be a blink of eye before you realise P1 registration is here again.
Please keep us updated on your son's GEP screening test. All the best! :rahrah: -
Hi qms,
Yeah just can't decide which of the two schools. Don't get me wrong, RV is still a good school in my opinion - its their academic pursuit vs CHIJ Kellock's 'relaxed' form of education that is making me think hard.
My DS1 didn't make it to GEP but we are not disappointed. I'm glad that DS1 didn't bother about it abit too. He's enjoying the school with his current friends and teachers, so I'll concentrate on grooming him well for his next 3 years. I also dread the idea of picking and fetching if the kids are scattered in different schools

I suggest you find out more from the Selection & Registration section, under which there are threads like the Registration Procedures, and if RV is one of your shortlisted schools, look out under the Primary Schools (Central & Bt Merah) threads. There were some comparisons and strengths and weaknesses of each individual school, and it also depends on your priorities. I suppose you stay around the area. Good to start thinking of the school to register your kid now. My DD is currently in K1 going K2 and next year is the registration time. Thanks for the reply! I've heard some not-so-good thingy abt RVPS. And it's from one of the teachers who is teaching there. But i have my doubts on that. Would like to hear esp from parents with children in the school. RVPS is my husband's alma-mater (which is in phase 2A). I'm considering to put my BB there or to enrol him in St Andrew Junior which would mean PV and in phase 2B/C. Any suggestion? -
Hi Puffer1
Puffer:
:!: CHIJ Kellock adopts a \"relaxed\" form of education? Remember my daughter's childcare teacher? She withdrew her daughter from the childcare centre that she was teaching, and put her daughter through more enrichment classes - all in the name of preparing her daughter for the \"rigours\" in CHIJ Kellock...RV is still a good school in my opinion - its their academic pursuit vs CHIJ Kellock's 'relaxed' form of education that is making me think hard.

:celebrate: Your son did well to get into the second round, too. Not many people could do it. It's good that you are all taking this in your own stride. My DS1 didn't make it to GEP but we are not disappointed. I'm glad that DS1 didn't bother about it abit too.

I've heard of not-so-good things too! Maybe you'll like to share with me what they are privately?
A school will never please every parent. This coming sch holidays may be a good time for you to visit both schools and look around. Distance is also an important consideration. Is your house nearer to SAJS? If so, it will be an advantage since missionary sch will have affiliated sec schools, easier for your child to get into should he get so-so psle result.

Oh mine! Where did I get the idea/info that CHIJ Kellock is a relaxed school :? Maybe from neighbourhood parents as they told me that there is no test/exam for P1 & 2? -

My DS2 is in 2C. We might have met. I fetch my kids to and from sch everyday.
hi putter,
sorry. didn't come in for a long time.
which class is your kid going to next year? -
Hi, my DD is enrolled in RVPS (class 1E)… anyone has any idea what to bring for 1st day in school? Based on the list provided by RVPS, we will have to bring all 1A text/workbooks, quite a heavy load! Thanks.
Anyone has kids going to class 1E as well? We can chat together… happy new year… -
Hi, how’s yr DD or DS first day of school? It was exciting both for my DD and myself! First, I was glad she’s in the PM session, no rush in the morning. Recess was chaotic, more for parents trying to spot their kids. I couldn’t spot her till the last 10 mins of recess. I didn’t see many kids buying their food. Does anyone knows what they sell in the canteen? How much does food cost, so I can gauge how much pocket $ to give? Thx!

Hi, will RVPS student be granted direct admission to River valley High school?
