My son is in P2 now. Last year, he did not attend the CNY celebration as he was not feeling well. This year, I let him attend. But I was very shocked when he told me one of the teacher told them to knee down (跪) when they bai-nian (拜年) to him. This also happened when the class representatives went up to the stage to bai-nian to the teachers, including the principal.

Can anyone share with me whether this is MBS culture? Thanks!
From what i know this is not the school culture, but it's the old traditional culture from China. I did kneel down and bai nian to my parents when i was young. I think the school is just trying to tell the pupils that it was like that many years ago. In fact, if my child was asked to kneel down to bai nian to his teacher, i think it's ok for me. Who knows my child will do that to me next year.

:rahrah: :boogie: MBS symphonic band won Gold with honours in today's SYF.

I heard it is the 8th time they are winning this award. Their performance was really awesome and I feel so proud of the kids. Really thankful also for the great conductor.

            MMM,

Thank you for sharing the good news with us. That answer my question why the P, VPs and some of teachers were clapping hands and happily laughing away. Well Done! once again.

Yes, I heard from the kids that they were welcomed by the P, VPs and teachers when they came back from the conference hall. My P1 told me that the principal made an announcement to the entire school just before they were about to go home. The results only came out at 6plus.

Indeed, super duper proud of our MBS band. They were just awesome under the leadership of Mr Quek. His other school Bendemeer also won gold with honours.

              :congrats:

Dear fellow parents of MBS students,

May I know if it is possible to excuse the kid from school organised swimming lesson? I am sending him to private swimming lesson =Swimsafer 1, 2, 3 etc.

What is the criteria to be exempted from school swimming lesson? Thanks.

Are you aware that P4 form teachers are teaching 3 main core subjects namely English, Science and Maths?

And to add to the problems, there are teachers going on frequent sick leaves and maternity leaves.

                  Haiz…Sigh…
