sorry.. yes 3 classes, 75 students... my mistake.

But I am sure about the statistics:
the top two classes already has 42 students invited for GEP... the teachers told my child.
I cannot comment on the rest of the classes, as my gal only knows one other gal who is not from a top class but got into the program.
Based on historical statistics, about 20 or fewer RGPS girls make it to GEP each year. So the figure of 26 is more likely. Perhaps the figure of 42 you received was for students who sat for the second round of GEP selection tests, not the ones that actually made it through.

I am worried about NYPS though... I am considering sending my gal there, but do not know the chances... if she puts NYPS as first choice and don't get in.. I am afraid she might miss her 2nd choice (RGPS) if there are no more vacancies

I think not to worry it has 100 seats in total and RGPS 75 .sure you should get . Location also counts. if you stay in Tampines for ex then ya you need to worry.

Is there anyone here also deciding between PGPS and NYPS?

I seriously don't think so... this information was announced in class the day after the envelope was given out and many other RGPS mums know about it. The only number that eludes us is the tally of all RGPS gals that got in.

But I seriously think that the number is so high because they have the GEP teachers teaching the P3 gals in the 2 top classes.

Anyway.. for those of you who are considering RGPS.. the teachers are good, very approachable, and gets along well with the students. they are also fast to spot good/bad patterns/behaviours in the children and will inform us about these traits so that we, as parents, can do our part and complement the effects of the teachers.

I hope '26' is true though.. because I am about to put RGPS as the second choice.

Why don't you let your child continue with RGPS?

If what the number 43 you said is true then that will be 43/330 = 13% got into GEP. This could easily make them the highest GEP success rate in all Pri Sch. Perhaps that is the reason why the school is so popular even it is not affiliated to the Sec Sch.

The talk last night and meeting the teachers were great for us. My kid now open somewhat to the idea of the program and I'm glad we brought him there for the session.

We spent our time mainly in HPPS as that's our option, given we don't wanna enroll our kid to SAP with NYPS and NHPS the other 2 nearest to our place. I know i know... Mrs Heng already mentioned chinese being chinese, and no lower or higher... just chinese. πŸ˜› But we would like our son to have time to appreciate the change and avoid too many changes in his life if possilbe... moreover, meeting the teachers there further convinced us HPPS is our only choice.

HPPS got a tour tmr morning at 8am... we look forward to it and now all depends on my son whether he like the school... if yes, we will sign up... our only option on the form. πŸ˜„
                    :celebrate: and :welcome:

Because change is a constant.... kids should learn to embrace it at a uounger age.. I like NYPS because the environment is totally different from RGPS's.

Also, I would like my kid to be multilingual... NYPS students have a strong foundation in Chinese.

Thirdly, my kid takes 4 CCAs... including gym n tennis ... RGPS does not have the right facilities but NYPS has.

Anyone here (or knows friends) who stays in the North (Woodlands/Sembawang/Yishun) with kids in GEP ? What school are your (their) children in ?

I am still a little put off by the distance.
My son is in Rosyth, no need to worry about distance... Quite a lot of them in Rosyth from North.
