All submitted already? outcome will know by 24th Nov... all the best to all...
Nay, not yet. Hmm, I wonder if my kid is the last to submit.... -
TwaTau:
Thanks. Actually, am mentally tired.. both kid and us.
Hang in there, :ugogirl:
We had similar situation last year with my DS.
This is what we told our DS:
1. He will have to make new friends anyway as alot of his classmate will be leaving.
2. He will also be getting new teachers.
3. Give it a try and if it does not work out, he can always go back to the mainstream.
4. Get him a PSP, which he was asking but I was very adamant not to give.
5. This is part of life, where you will eventually part with your friend and school that he love.
This line of persuasion starts from the day we got the yellow envelope till the dateline, and still he was not convinced
Eventually it was DW who whisper something to DS ear that finally got him to agree. :celebrate:
Looking back and talking to him now, I think we have made the right decision and he agree without regret.
Hopefully it turn out well for you and good luck! :xedfingers: -
vlim:
i am more lucky in the sense that I always leave the persuasion part to my husband...and he 99% able to convince my ds ...btw my ds is scared of him haaaaaaa..
but of course my husband will not do the persuasion if he himself doesn't agreed with the idea or planning...
Tired.....this is a test of patience and persuasion skill

Yes, from what I gathered, it is better just to fill in one option, to show your determination to get into that school.
This is an interesting journey for all of us, especially for parents like me, to find this forum for advice and guidance. Our kid is so sure to say NO and stated his emotional attachment to his current school, teachers and friends. Then we asked him to be open-minded and go for the talk, and visit to the school we chosen... he liked it.
Ultimately, it is the kid's choice. To me, whether he ended up in GEP or not, he already proven to me he is much better than me during my old primary school days... seriously, I don't think i'm +/- 10% of his... :? Now we just sit back, wait, and enjoy!syshi:

FWIW, my sister let my niece decide, so she didn't sign up. My neice is now in secondary school and certainly has no regrets, although my sister still does! Anyway, no negative effects- she's in a top girl's school and doing extremely well. -
my DS teachers, personally pushed him to take it up... they say that it is a rare chance... don't miss it... most of them also told him that he'll be welcome to 'help' out in his current school when he got 'spare' time...

Faxed our decision this morning. dd was so intent to boost her chances of getting her first choice that she attached a self-penned letter explaining why she opted for the school.
