I’m also looking out for a public speaking course for ds during the hols and stumbled on Academyig website as well as the forum here. Seem pretty good. Mummies who had sent their kids for the foundation course, how did you find the course ?

Personally, I feel that short term course is not so effective if you are really serious abt letting him train up in public speaking..If I am not wrong, after the foundation course, they also can offer on-going course whereby an international cert will be issue at the end of the course. Nevertheless, no harm trying it out the foundation course first and see if your ds is keen to continue further.. 😄

Thanks, Vlim. That’s my intention to send him for the foundation course and if he is keen to pursue further. However, they are fully booked for the Dec hol, and have to wait the next intake in June next year.

                    xi-fu:
                    Hi Vlim & Sun_2010,

                    both my 2 girls (6 & 8yrs old ) started (half yr-20lesson, 1 semester) NAFA preparatory BILINGUAL(meaning 10lesson Mandarin+ 10lesson Eng) COMPERE course since Jan 2010,

after passing their test at end of 20lesson (1 semester), ( i believe so long as you memorise & speak in front of the whole class of 15 students, you will pass).

For more info, you could surf NAFA website http://www.nafa.edu.sg/in_courses/youngtalents/2010/_JDR_PreparatoryBilingualCompereClass.htm

                    or call nafa 65124168

Hope this helps.. before I chance upon NAFA, i almost wanted to go for academy IG, but i find it too expensive & usually not enough students to start a class. When I reg both girls last nov (for Jan10 intake), I met another parent, who switch her girl from AcademyIG to nafa. He said her girl (cant remember her age,is it 7yrsold now) is the only student in AcademyIG, so they paid alot for that private lesson.

                    nafa 20lesson(each semester) cost $642+reg $32?

both enjoyed their lesson very much. Next both will proceed to Formal Bilingual compere class (2 semesters each 20 lesson - 1 yr time)

I am a BO-CHAP mummy, never revise their compere notes, they just \"rattle off \" those eng peoms & chinese tongue twisters/peoms..

                    Hi xi-fu,

Are your kids still with NAFA for Bilingual Drama courses? I plan to sign my DS for this course and would like to explore whether this is a good course in the long term.

                    Thanks.

Public speaking is the process of speaking to a group of people in a structured, deliberate manner intended to inform, influence, or entertain the listeners. It is closely allied to "presenting", although the latter has more of a commercial advertisement.
