Singapore for Singaporeans?

I would think that the main issue here is that they are too many. Once upon a time, when there were only malaysian PR, our population is only about 3 millions, so no problem, the cake is big enough. But look at now, how many millions? Of course , there will be tension and fight for the same size cake lah. Just imagine a fish tank, where there is only 10 fishes, wow, so peaceful , the fish swim so graciously, so relaxing. Now imagine, one thousand fish is added into the same tank

It is rather unanimous so far that we are looking for similar type of people to join us. In other words, we do not reject the idea of foreigners but there must be cultural similarities for us to co-exist more seamlessly?
They are very similar to us. They don't complain about curry, they don't spit on floor, they rem red lights =stop, quite a number of them are second class citizens in their country so they are humble and don't berate Singaporeans or call us dogs, they come from kampongs and want their kids to study WITH our kids and not against our kids, they do not hanker after our branded pri schs and they are happy to go to whatever neighbourhood schools they get. We have lived with them for many years and many of our relatives and even parents/grandparents come from Malaysia ...no major problem.Snow Crystal:

In the past, Singapore provided those who failed to get into their local U a viable option for a tertiary education. These days, there are more alternatives in the form of pte universities available in Malaysia. Could be cheaper than coming to Singapore to study.ksi:
So again being culturally similar helps, i.e. if the govt tries to attract more Malaysians instead of PRCs to come, we will have lesser issues?
Does anybody has any idea or the feeling that even Malaysians PR (the younger generation) are also drying up and not coming to SG as like last time anymore? -

Agree. Singapore and Malaysia are both very close in terms of culture and food we eat so much so that we have some disputes as to where the food originated from.Malaysia and Singapore shared a common history
many of the families have relatives on both sides of the causeway
even some ministers in the government are recent converts to SG citizens, some in oppo too -
Aiyah , i am talking about a fish tank lah, not the little red dot, so the number of fish added and the number of people added of course not the same. This is just to show that when it is too crowded, it will bring out everyone's bad behaviour and resentment.
Just look at China, we generally feel that they dont queue up, like to 争先恐后， why do they behave that way ? because there are too many of them, so of course scared lose out lah, so must 抢!verykiasu2010:

Huh, I seem to be surrounded by Malaysians.
My dd and ds’s friends, teachers from Malaysia. My neighbors also Malaysians. My bukit timah hill walks buddies also Malaysian. My beautican’s partner also Malaysian…my friends also Malaysians.
Can’t tell the difference until I heard them talking about going home for cny. -

My dd and ds's friends, teachers from Malaysia. My neighbors also Malaysians. My bukit timah hill walks buddies also Malaysian. My beautican's partner also Malaysian.....my friends also Malaysians.

Interesting thought on overcrowding....so is it a timing issue? Our cost of living has gone up very high and we find many strangers amongst us. Naturally the question would be: Could it be due to them we may ask? Life is getting so tough.....
