Malaysia and Singapore shared a common history

many of the families have relatives on both sides of the causeway

even some ministers in the government are recent converts to SG citizens, some in oppo too
Agree. Singapore and Malaysia are both very close in terms of culture and food we eat so much so that we have some disputes as to where the food originated from.

Aiyah , i am talking about a fish tank lah, not the little red dot, so the number of fish added and the number of people added of course not the same. This is just to show that when it is too crowded, it will bring out everyone's bad behaviour and resentment.

Just look at China, we generally feel that they dont queue up, like to 争先恐后, why do they behave that way ? because there are too many of them, so of course scared lose out lah, so must 抢!

I would think that the main issue here is that they are too many. Once upon a time, when there were only malaysian PR, our population is only about 3 millions, so no problem, the cake is big enough. But look at now, how many millions? Of course , there will be tension and fight for the same size cake lah. Just imagine a fish tank, where there is only 10 fishes, wow, so peaceful , the fish swim so graciously, so relaxing. Now imagine, one thousand fish is added into the same tank

where got add 1000 fish to 10 fish ? you saying 300 million people added to 3 million people ?

may be you could say what fish being added ? long kang fish or arowana or siamese fighting fish or puffer fish or pirahna ? :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Doesnt matter what fish added, when the tank is crowded, it is crowded.

Interesting thought on overcrowding....so is it a timing issue? Our cost of living has gone up very high and we find many strangers amongst us. Naturally the question would be: Could it be due to them we may ask? Life is getting so tough.....

Exactly my point...we are in fact so heavily surrounded by \"foreigners from Malaysia\" for many eons but there was no or little effect on us. So I really do not think we dislike foreigners so much but currently PRCs and Pinoys seem to irk us a bit.

And the next question is, why aren't the govt attracting more Malaysians here with study scholarships since they can mingle with us better? Would it not solve the govt's problem the same and still make everyone happy?

They are given scholarship/subsidy to study here. One of my husband's cousin was recently given a few hundred allowance per month to study in nanyang poly (i think is digital media coursce). And the course fee all no need to pay. And I dont think he is even one of the top student in his school in malaysia.

Heard that the M'sian government trying to discourage their citizens from coming to Singapore and would counter-offer their own scholarship to those who have been offered ASEAN scholarship here.

                        So
                        (1) Are we not getting enough from Malaysia these days so we have to venture to other countries? Is there brain-drain?
                        (2) Are we offering the Malaysians at uni levels too?
                        (3) Anyone knows the distribution of Malaysians offered as opposed to other countries?

Perhaps when we understand more, then we understand why so many of the non-Malaysian foreigners are invited in.
