Eh, Cervelo and sweetheart, looks like our boys are in the same classes.

[Cervelo], my son in P1/2 n 2/2 too 😉 This is Ethan's mum.

sweetheart mine changing school too cos of GEP next year. where is yours heading to?

yes, SAJS is a great great great school. I felt so sentimental about the school that tears just flowed when the school closed on the last few days of school. They have great curriculum, and the school really try to mold each child to be a leader. The school allows the pupils to play and and study hard.

OTOH, like many other schools, no school is perfect. Every school has their own issue, and so does SAJS. Overall, my son and I love SAJS.
Thanks for sharing! It is very reassuring 'cos I am hoping my boy can get in to SAJS next year. We live nearby, within walking distance (about 10 mins). Currently doing PV and hope to be able to clock the 40hrs on time. Hope your boy likes his new school too. 🙂

My boy is gg Pri 1 next yr, and he qualifies for 2A, St Andrew as his dad and grandpa is from St andrew.

The thing is, I do not have very good impressions of st andrew as I hope for him to go to co eds… am I thinking too much? Was hoping to enrol him to Peichun, but its over 2km from my house - slim chance.

St Andrew is within 1km, and we are now at 2A pase

Read my post on page 9 and then the one following - you will see two views that might just give you an impression.

My son is in P1 this year and so far it has been positive experience both for him and us as parents.

So far, I disagree that the school is \"lax\", whatever that means (i squirmed reading and writing the word). In terms of HW, spelling and 听写 are weekly, more frequent than my p2 DD in SNGS. In terms of discipline and character building, SAJS has a strong Christian tradition. Good experience with the teachers so far. My son is in good hands.

From its background, I feel the school lacks a good focus on chinese (eg. can't find the school name in chinese [check out its website],i found out later elsewhere is 圣安德烈小学. Students' name tags do not have their chinese names, unlike my DD's name tag), Chinese being a very important subject to parents nowadays. The principal is well aware of this fact, she pointed out during orientation that it was the chinese scores that pulled down students' overall PLSE scores. So i think the school will move to improve in Chinese; meanwhile, parents have to put in extra efforts to help their sons in Chinese right from the start.

Boys in my DS's class are pretty competitive, i hope a good sign.

Not sure about this computer thingy only for top classes in the upper primary... don't like the sound of it. Hope to have more sharings from SAJS parents in this forum.

Another thing i like about SAJS is there is a mix of boys from middle-income or above families, and average-income families, which i believe is a more healthy, down-to-earth and realistic environment for a growing child, rather than a completely elitist environment.

Just one last note about boys - from my experience with my two kids and sharings from other parents: boys in general tend to be less conscientious than girls, more dreamy, more focus on ideas, more social in terms of making friends and interacting easily, more \"gungho\". A very academic-focused environment suits boys less than girls, esp. at an early age. As far as i can tell from P1 experience so far, SAJS is great! 😄

Well said Rafy. Totally agree with u. My son had a great time over at saJS until he was transferred out this year cuz of GEP . He still misses his pals! SaJS is an awesome school!

My son's in P4-4 this year. Computers were an added \"feature\" for those in P4-1, -2, and -3. I'm not sure how this will help them in their grades. I have a tight control of my son's home computer, though. He can only use it only on a need-to basis.

                        Hi everyone,

I’m new to this forum and need some advice. My son just transferred into the St Andrew’s Junior School (we’ve just moved back to Singapore) at P2 and we’re currently staying at just behind Peace Centre (right next to St Margaret’s school).

The school bus operator said he cannot pick my son from school to send him back home as he claims it is "out of the way" and said he can only drop my son along Buffalo Road, and then my son has to find his own way back home! (which is a good 15 min walk and through major traffic roads like Serangoon Road, Selegie Road and Wilkie Road).

Does anyone know of any other transport operators that pick up kids from Saint Andrew’s? Thanks!
