What's the ideal age to introduce kids music appreciation? My gal is 2yr old now.

What do you think of this music school? http://www.mycsingapore.com.sg/

I couldn't decide if i should let my 4 yo gal attend the abv music class or engage a private teacher to teach her piano. She has not attended any music class yet.

If I engage a private piano teacher, how many mths of lesson must she go thru before she can go for the grade 1 exam??

                You are welcome mzckoh 🙂

Deon629, normally it takes about 1.5-2 yrs to reach gr 1 standard for age of 4. However it also depends on individual learning curve and how often and commitment of the practise sessions. I have students who reach gr 1 standard in 6 months and gr 2 in 9 months etc. It depends on age and parental support as well.

My son has just started piano lessons at Kawai and we are looking at getting a keyboard for him as a start as we are not sure whether he is interesting in piano. (Incidentally, I have also started piano lessons at Kawai as well - different teacher at my wife’s encouragement. She wanted me to do something else other than work.)

Any recommendations for keyboards, while we fill the piggy bank to buy a piano in the future.

                    Hi All,

I have the following options to let my child (Age 5) to take up piano, any advises on that?

                    (i) Cristofori (Entry Age 5)
                    (ii) Yamaha (Entry Age 6)
(iii) Community Club (Don't know how good is it)
(iv) Go for a Pte Piano Teacher
                    (v) Buy a Piano at home & engaged piano teacher.

If you have any good piano teacher from Music School or Pte Piano Teacher do share with me. Saw Newspaper at CATS section also have advertisement. WOnder are they also good?

I saw a pretty good deal on a full Casio keyboard in Carrefour the other day for around $800 odd. It's one of those \"professional\" ones with keys that are somewhat closer to real piano keys. I would have bought that if I did not already have a $400 keyboard.

                        Hi

I just came back from the US where my family and I lived for almost 6 years. I am looking for a competent piano and violin teacher for my two children. My son (10) plays the violin - Suzuki level 4 and my daughter (8) plays the piano. I think she could be around grade 2 level. They have never taken any exams but have done numerous recitals and public performances in the US.

I hope to be able to nurture their interest back here in Singapore. Thanks!
