Thanks autumnbronze and buds for the info. Any idea if the kuehs would lasts a 26 hrs flight (that is if I don't inhale them on flight)? Cos my sis-in-law is a great fan and hinted that it would be great if I can bring some over for X'mas....

You can ask the seller b4 buying how long you can keep them if they are refrigerated. Then when you get to the plane, just inform crew to put them in the refrigerator until touch down.
On the day of departure, my sis used to buy back mee goreng (she lives overseas) for her kids ....

Hi mlr, I think it's better to ask the crew to keep in fridge for you, if they dont mind. I'll need to keep my girl's vaccine in their fridge. They MUST oblige since its for medical reasons. But mine short flight, not so jialat; I also putting in a thermos.
I love malay kueh too.
PS: You've good source for malay kueh? The only places I know are kimchoo n bengawan. -
Thanks autumnbronze, I did that when I brought back a huge block of runny cheese the last time. I think if I pack it properly in tupperware, it should work.
Mathsparks, autumnbronze mentioned about a store in Toa Payoh Interchange and buds mentioned one @ Yew Tee point. The price of 3 pieces @$1 would be worth going all the way there. I may be getting like 50 pcs.
Bengawan too pricy and taste wise too \"refined\" for my liking. Kimchoo is ok, but also not as good as b4 they came out on the papers and mags reviews. I would go to Joo Chiat/Bedok during Ramadan(Muslim Fasting) period for kueh shopping . -

FYI, in case you are interested in purchasing the kueh from Toa Payoh ....
I stumbled upon the small shop by chance when I happened to take a shuttle bus to the interchange which stopped just in front of it. Its location is not really prominent. You have to go down to the bus bay area. The best way that I can think of giving you directions is that it is located near a shop selling kids stuff ie toys etc... So if you are standing outside the shop, turn to your left and walk in the direction.
Hope this helps

Yew Tee MRT Station. From the main control station upon your exit,
walk straight ahead like 500m then turn left. Yew Tee Point is below
the Yew Tee Residences Condominium. Basement level where there
are many other popular stalls like Sweet Talk, Mr Bean... (etc) -
Buds, ermmm, I know where's yewtee point. you seem to be giving directions to tourists. but i need the name of the shop. thanks.
