Oh dear... do monitor. :hugs:
Ultimately, a ctr for young children with very high turnover isn't conducive for learning as the poor kiddies have to adjust and readjust to the care and teaching styles of too many different people within a short duration. It gives children a false sense of security especially if they have formed special bonds with the good teachers. -
Thanks buds.
I understand that as well… Just not sure what went wrong that lead to the high staff turnover… To switch my kid to a new place is also a headache… Not many good pre-schools in Toa Payoh… -
Hi swallow 25…my gal is also in there in workgroup. Do u have any feedback? Before the recent term break, she got her worksheet back and i found lots of error in it where the teacher just mark it as correct. The chinese stroke she teaches my girl are wrong and my girl write ‘b’ as ‘d’ and the teacher just marked it as correct. I am abit concern as i find this batch of teacher not too patient and good with kids. In Aug i went to celebrate her birthday in school and saw how one of the teacher roughly treated a mis-behaved boy. SHe really snatch the things from his hand and pull him roughly by the arms. My hubby is getting a bit concern and wanted to pull her out. Do u have any problem with your kid in there?

Hi hot chocolate,
My gal is in the playgroup. Since playgroup is still not into writing yet, the worksheets they have are mainly pasting/colouring/drawing lines etc. So we do not really have comments on that area.
But the turnover of teachers remains high and we are still very concerned with this. We have spoken to the principal on this issue and she commented that it is common for pre-schools. We are not very convinced and are planning to switch schools once we have found a suitable one. -
I have s size uniform for sale (ykidz), wore only once so as new. Willing to let go for any offer. Thanks!

Hi swallow25, in my experience high turnover of teachers reflected badly on the management ie. office politics and poor staff welfare/management and other reasons could also be the usual about staff being young so they tend to swap centres quite a fsir bit, citing greener pastures most times. However, in my opinion I cannot accept that just because its common in preschool to have high staff turnover, so it's okay. :skeptical: That's a feeble response to an already concerned parent. I have worked in a few centres for a good duration because the management took care of staff well and when staff are happy they will stay on. It also transcends to having happy children learning in a cheerful environment. My girls' old playgroup and kindy still have the same teachers till today.

Im sorry to hear what had happened to your child. But my son has been with Ykidz ever since it first opened. And for once I have not regretted it at all. Thanks to them my son is able to be what he is today. In fact, now he has even learn how to write simple sentences on his own, fractions, word problems etc.
Yes no doubt I am quite worried at first to know bout the ever changing teachers. But I believe all the teachers are of high calibre. I went to their open house in July, and the teachers did a presentation on their materials. And Im impressed to how much knowledge they have.
Dear parents, you must know that there isnt a centre which do not make any mistake. Im sure if you approach the teachers and point out their mistake, they will take note. And moreover, do you know that Ykidz has been awarded with an award recently, but forgotten what it was.
PS:Don't let a mistake cover their good deeds all these while ;))
Im sorry if I offended anyone of you, but its just my honest opinion. -
I attended the parent-child montessori class during the weekends. There is only one other boy and my daughter in the class. I signed up because I stay in tpy and have intentions to pur her in the daily playgroup class. I paid for 12 sessions and so far I have attended 5 sessions.
I would say that even though I have paid in full, I have decided to stop bringing my daughter for the remaining sessions. My hubby and I have rotated between us to bring our daughter there and we think that we do not want to go there anymore.
I have been to two other Montessori schools elsewhere (out of tpy) and we are disappointed with Ykidz.
The teacher is a new teacher who has 1 year experience of teaching and she is not engaging in class.
Most of the time, it gives me a feeling that she is unsure of what she is doing.
The cleaner auntie will clean toys used by the daily classes at a mere 2 meters away from us (distracting and somewhat irritating).
The older group in the other classroom who are having art lessons will walk pass us to wash hands because of paint etc. (distracting again - because my child will follow)
The musical instruments that were used - some were broken and rusty (I thought they should be thrown or kept away).
The positive feedback I have is that they checked the temperature and sanitised hands the moment children enter the school. The teacher is caring and she loves kids. -
My child was from Ykidz for a few month, withdrew my child out after she started sharing things with me. She even drew out what she experienced. It was painful to see.
- They do not have a toilet so the kids are peeing in a bucket in the classroom itself which is hidden behind a cupboard. I even saw some wetness on the floor. It might come from the kids washing their hands OR! it might come from the dripping pee. And they walk around the classroom, where kids play, lay down and even touch the floor. disgusting!
-The teacher seems impatient. They do not speak proper english.
Its funny how the teacher just sit around and do nothing and just let the kids play through out the whole session.
-The classroom is not \"child-friendly\". Safety is definitely not enforced and properly thought. Chairs stacked up so high and placed near the washing area, all you need is one kid to pull or bang on it, and it will tumble down. Tables with sharp edges. Etc.
-The classroom looks so boring. Dirty boring white walls.
Spoke to some of the parents, and they said, many withdrew ever since \"the good team\" left. Some mentioned that the previous batch of teachers and admin left out of sudden, within short notice and they like them best. I also guess she meant that the current one is newly hired.
I would not want to pay a hefty amount which will then risk my child in many ways.I believe that the first few years is the important first step to educating them, but with the condition and the weak teachers and admin ,honestly, don't bother..
