PraisetheLord:
Thanks for the info as my son is quite small built so just what kind of bag shld I get for him?
I just look for bags shorter in length but still big enough for A4 size files. My boy is very small too. Was only 105cm at P1. Those Ergonomic bags are a little too heavy for him. -
Just got the P1 booklist so do we have to buy everything on the list?
-
No need - just get compulsory items first. Check with teachers on the optional items when school starts. These books are hardly used. Also it is cheaper to buy text books from Popular. Just get the exercise books and socks etc from school bookshop.

Hi,
May I know how do I get the booklist? Is it receive in the post or download from website or call the school to obtain?
Thank you -

Thanks.
I guess I am getting worried and very panicky about this whole primary one stuff.
I have been getting stressed out by conversations with parents I met who said that my son is very fortunate because he is very carefree! no extra lessons etc and till now he can’t count properly to 100.
The child care i sent him to said no need as he only needs to learn up to 20…
I tried to teach but am not good and he can’t seem to absorb too. Then when i told the child care which primary school he will be going, they tell me standard very high and my son maybe not prepared???
So now i get pretty worried.
Sigh -
One other query. So after I get the book list I can go buy the textbooks or I should wait till 17 Nov, orientation then the teacher will tell us what to buy and I buy from school?
Popular is cheaper?
Thanks for all the feedback. -
P1 Math is relatively OK I think, but you should be worried as the pace for math will increase quite rapidly after P1. Suggest you check the MOE Math curriculum and make sure your son is able to tackle the P1 curriculum. Also make sure you attend the parents seminar for Math. These parents seminars cover all subjects and are typically held in February. The Math seminar is a good forum for you to understand how Cat High teaches Math, and ask questions.
As for textbooks, you can buy in December. On orientation day, it's a mad house and there are too many things to take care of. If you're buying text books from school book shop, they'll let you know the days that the book shop is open.2am:
Thanks.

Just wondering if any of you is considering p5 maths tuition for next year. I’m putting my ds with an ex-sap sch teacher and I need another kid to start a class. She and another teacher are very dedicated teachers and are very good in maths. I know them personally. Teaching strategies to solve problem sums. Can teach on-sponge type too. Any one keen? Should be Sat 9.30am 2hr starting in dec. they are going to set up a new place in Thomson area near Thomson plaza. Fees I think per session comparable to concept math.
Anyone? Tks.
