      Augmum:

There isnt a class offerring both E Lit and C Lit.....
Even bicultural students dont wanna to take both Lit as double humanitites....
What I meant was that Geog/Hist isn't the only double humanities combination?

Surely, bicultural students may take, for example, geog and chinese literature?

        Augmum,

        Check this out:
        http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=32819&p=727949&hilit=economics#p727949
Personally I like it as I think Econs is a useful subject for the kids.
        Pen88n, thks for the link....
Yes, i also ever read abt parents talking abt schs offering Econs in yr3/4 but which are the specific schs, i am unaware of ......
Perhaps becos of resources problems, ( juz my guess) even the few IP schs do not have this option for yr 3 and 4.
That's why DHS's Financial Literary course aim to expose pupils to early Econs and it is taught by external vendors.

Yes, Geog and Hist isnt the only double humanities combo, there are Geog or Hist with E Lit....etc...

Basically, those who take bicultural studies, they belong to the humanities cat......
thus, not a surprise that they opt for double humanities......
In this aspect, DHS, itself, offers the choices to pupils' interest, ( be it u are a science pupil or humanities pupil),
so long one meets the GPA criteria for 8 units......

Hi, I am a new comer. My ds has just received his only dsa posting notice with DHS in waiting list. He does reasonably well in all math, eng , science but poor in Chinese 65-70 no HCL. He is aiming VS but also worried if chinese marks pull his psle score down. If he get into DHS, will he survive there due to his currently poor chinese in Primary? I am afraid it may ruin the whole thing ...

Anybody who has kids get into DHS with not so well CL?? Pls help... need to decide tomorrow ... :slapshead:

Do u know what is the avg GPA for sec 3 this yr? In ur previous post u said half the cohort failed geog, this is going to pull down their GPA as geog is compulsory for GPA.

DS didnt do well this yr.

It is by academic. He is obviously more potatoes, he likes and perform much better in english than his under performing chinese.

He prefers Victoria school IP but will be very challenging due to his chinese that may pull down his psle score. Shall he give a miss for DHS and hope for his preference…

Hi caring dad, my ds have decided to give up his co for dhs in favor of going for S1 result to his preferred school… While for me is not an easy decision as this co is worth 256 points after all if we use last year cop as a reference as well as forgoing another offer, we are supportive of his decision. However in the leadup to this decision, we insisted that he consulted his school teachers as well (and they were supportive as well)… While he is not exactly in love with chinese, his main issue is inconsistency; however we do see his point that at least he have a try at his 1st choice, even if in the end there is a possibility that he may not get it. This is just to share with you as we also spent days thinking over this…

DHS has real good teachers who can teach and strong bonding among peers who really help. Chinese is not the only subject they look into. It’s the overall GPA.
